Would you buy a 360 if the only games on it were the Live Arcade ones?

Just wondering if you think the Xbox Live Arcade games would be enough to satisfy your console gaming needs if that's all that was available. I'm considering getting an Xbox during the holidays, and one of my main interests is in the arcade (because of the remade old-style games, real fun type that I remember growing up with).

Do you think the arcade is strong enough to stand on its own?

For me personally, no. It would be hard for me to justify spending that kind of money on a console without the ability to experience high-tech big-budget games like gears of war and assassin's creed.

no - the average quality of XBLA games isn't very good. They have certainly tried harder since about last Summer, but for every hit there are several duds

No way where are the RPGs at? I would never come close to an Xbox 360.

Nah, although as someone else said, recently the quality has been getting very good with games such as Trials HD, Monkey Island, Braid and Shadow Complex. However for todays game standards they are very below par. Really I only think of an XBLA title as sort of a minigame. And yes they did put remakes of some of my favourite games on there but most of them I already had on Mega Drive Ultimate Collection so I didn't buy any...

a lot of the XBLA games kick ass and are more fun than some games we may pay $60 for, but that's still not enough.

This thread is pointless. No matter how amazing an arcade game is, it will always be just that an arcade game. The arcade games will never be as deep or expansive as the main games. And no one would spend $250-$300 on a console just to play arcade games.

I don't think the question is pointless as i consider the arcade one of the more interesting things about the system.

As good as the XBLA is i don't think so. However if we got quality games like Trials and Shadow Complex every once and a while i think it would be a lot bigger of a factor then it is now. Many people still don't use it.

Nope. I think the arcade games are an awesome complement to the normal games.
