Ign just broke some news that microsoft is looking to get the next xbox out by holiday 2013. (it's about time). So with that said and a 4gb slim is still $200 bucks would you actually give microsoft your $200 or more again for another year of gaming on the 360?

I was really surpised with the amount of 360's sold over the black friday holiday, and it really makes me believe the avg consumer is a moron.. or they just don't know how close the next generation is. If the new xbox does launch next holiday season how many of them do you think will be saying to themselves... wtf did I not just buy one? and now a new one? I really feel like the avg consumer is very uneducated when it comes to technology and when to adopt it or not.

Anyway slong story short.. would you buy one? or go a year without a console? I have a solid gaming PC as well as my 360. There is no way I would give microsoft another $200 - 250 for another console at this time.

No since I have 2 Xbox 360 consoles. I have 1 original model an Xbox 360 Arcade with a 20GB HDD attached. And I have a Xbox 360 S slim console with 320GB HDD The Gears of War limited edition console. So my Xbox 360 dies I have a replacement ready. The Arcade is the last versions made before the slimline replaced the originals. Plus the Xbox 360 S console are not Prone to RROD

So nope if one were to die I'm good until the next round of Xbox 720.

My original 360 lasted almost 7 years before it got the RRoD - so, with only a week till Halo 4 came out, I got a refurbished one with a 1-year warranty from GameStop - this replacement gave me a non-sticking DVD tray, HDMI output, and was 3 years newer than my old one. I was also able to re-use my 120GB hard drive.

I would, but I'd just look for a cheap used model on Ebay or Gamestop or something. I still love playing Halo 4 and the Mass Effect games, and I don't want to wait a year to play them again. That's even if backwards compatibility is included on the new console.

My Falcon revision 360 (bought in late '07) died last Oct right when Revelations came out and I had to scramble to get a new one. Luckily I was able to harvest the 20gb hard drive from it and put it in my new XBox Slim. So yeah I would buy a new one, but I only paid $150 for the arcade bundle since I could transplant my old hard drive into the new one. I don't play a ton of XBox games, but I get a good amount of play out of it. Really enjoying HALO 4 atm, which I totally didn't expect.

I recently moved across the country and left my 360 at home. I'm not free to head home until Christmas to pick it up. Even with December 25th so close I've considered buying a second 360 just to play Blops 2/Halo 4. I think what I miss most is Fallout New Vegas though. I think if my 360 broke I may well buy another one. I must have only played ~5% of all the 360 games there are, and probably only ~30% of the really great games. I think much like the playstation 2 there will be life in the console long after the next generation arrives.

I just grabbed a used 250gb slim, with two controllers and a few games for $100 from a friend. He never used it, so it is like new. I got rid of my Xbox a few years back and used the PS3. Now I will have the best of both worlds.

As far as the new consoles coming, you would be nuts to be an early adopter. Lack of games, hardware failures, and the price of them will keep me at bay for at least a year, if not 2 years. A 4 GB Xbox is still $199, so I assume that the new console will be at least $400. The games will all be $60. I'll stick with the 360, and buy some $20 games that I have missed out on over the past couple of years and watch how the next Gen plays out from the sidelines.

i would.

360 is my most played and favorite console. itd be hell to have to go a year without one.

tht being said, we just bought the Halo 4 limited edition console, as it was a good deal.

my old one works just fine, but is getting old(2007) and could use a break. will give it to my sister to keep in her room to watch movies and play games and stuff.

I agree that getting a new console on launch day is a bit of a risk.. but look at the wiiu. I think it's been a very solid launch for nintendo. So far no complaints of large scale failures, and I think a lot has been learned by microsoft and sony from this current gen, and next gen consoles will have a much lower failure rate.

I think 3 months after a new console is released is the perfect time frame to judge how the console is doing and if it's worth picking one up. I could easily wait that long if my current console was to die.

Mainly I made the thread out of pure frustration. I just find the avg consumer to be un educated in these matters. I'd just hate to be the parent in a year and a half that just purchased a console for a kid thats asking for the new xbox come next years holiday season.

I won't get the new xbox for a year the 360 still has a lot of life left in it, besides I doubt they'll even release it then. I'm guaranteed it will come out winter 2014.

No because there's only a small handfull of exclusives that I like on the system, I'd just re-buy the multiplats on other systems I already own.

The next gen consoles haven't been officially announced yet so a release date of late 2013 is just mere speculation and could be released early 2014 for all we know. Either way, waiting a year or more could be hard for some people. If the question is geared towards people who have more than one system, then I probably would not buy another Xbox since I do own a PS3 as well. But the answer could be different for those who only own an Xbox and nothing else.

Yeah, there's still too many games coming out next year to enjoy for me to skip out on just because I didn't want to get a new console.

There are plenty of holiday deals so with any kind of smart shopping you wouldn't be straight up replacing your broken system with a 4GB Slim anyways. But to answer the overall question : Sure, since I wouldn't buy the new Xbox at launch anyways. I'd wait until a price drop/revision.

I think i would buy a new one that very same day. *Knocking on wood***

I play games every day and i dont think i can survive more than two days without a console.

i would, i play my 360 more than any other console or my PC, so if it broke i would probably buy a new one the first chance i got

i actually just did buy the Halo 4 console, figured even if the new console does come out next year (and we dont know if it will, there have been many rumours about release dates over the years and we still have no information really) then the 360 can just get put in the bedroom and used for netflix and playing a few games on lazy weekend mornings so i will still get years of use out of it either way

If mine broke I think I'd just get a gaming PC since all the games I like on the 360 are on PC now (except for Lost Odyssey).

I replaced my 20GB one last year with a 250 GB Slim and don't regret it. I own 70 360 games, I want to have something that can play them. Not to mention I love achievements, the controller and the online. PS3 is great and I like having it, but 360 I had since Launch and will never abandon it.

I would. I know what you mean with uneducated people buying the 360 now not nowing next gen is coming up. but honestly, there really is no set date for the next xbox, everything is just speculation right now. I think it's stupid not to buy something in fear of something better coming out a year later. I buy everything based on the believe that the moment I buy it, its dated. Plus 360 still has a TON of great games that'll most likely be cheap when next gen rolls around, so it's not like if people really wanted to they couldn't get their monies worth.

When HD DVD and blu-ray were battling it out to be the next format I sided with HD DVD. When Warner Bros went Blu-ray exclusive the next day I went out and bought a PS3 to use as a blu-ray player. I still have all my HD DVD movies and player...and use them from time to time. Whatever you buy is only a waste of money if you don't use it or if it doesn't make you happy.
