Would You Play a Game as a Dog?

I keep seeing games with dog characters. Why? I can't get into games without a human character.

I play as female leads, that's just as foreign as a dog.

Always wondered what it is like to scratch my nuts with my foot.

Tokyo Jungle on the PS3 was nothing but playing as animals and it was incredibly cool. Well, not so much playing as the herbivores, but... If the game is doing something interesting with its protagonist - anything from the story they're telling from that unique point of view to just weird game mechanics - then I'll play as anything they want me to, whether it's a man or a woman or a baby, an alien or a demon or an animated skeleton, a dog or a cat, or even a walking, talking, feeling piece of crap. I always keep an open mind.

You can play as a goat in Goat Simulator,why can't someone play as a dog as a lead character??
