wow... Gears of War is AWESOME

just bought the game the other day (found it cheap) and I must say I'm having a BLAST with it!!! the only problem is that its consuming hours of my life (i'm playing through on hardcore mode for my first playthrough so it is taking me several tries for certain checkpoints... anyway, I don't know why I kept putting off buying the game but I am so glad i bought it!!! It is one of the best games I have ever played PERIOD - and one of the best of this gen.. haha.

I have a couple questions to Gears fans- the graphics are really good in the first gears- do they improve in the 2nd? also, what are the differences between Gears 1 and 2 aside from new missions?

The single player is fantastic. I'm not a fan of online though... I am a total noob and get beaten by everbody else.Buttmonkey9000

Same with me. The only online mode I play is horde.

I recently picked up Gears of War 2 and I have the same thoughts on the series. I am really impressed by the graphics, game mechanics, etc etc.. I am enjoying the heck out of this game! I mean, its a lot of fun. As far as your questions go, can't really answer them since I don't own the first..

Gears 1 is great. Gears 2 is pretty good also, albeit there are some design and conceptual things in the game that I didn't like. The story, characters, and voice acting in these games are laughable. The worst offender is the second installment. Looking for Dom's wife amid all that was around you wasn't very compelling or believable... but the gameplay is still fun and a lot of the artwork is beautiful. Adding new characters to this franchise was kind of pointless since they're all a joke anyways. I understand why they do it though. If all your characters are terrible then you need to try and throw something not so terrible in there, which turned out terrible anyways. Horde mode is awesome! I easily got my $60 worth out of that playing with my friends and brother online. Way awesome.

Gears 3... just looks like more of the same. I'll wait for a price drop.

Gears is a great series, but the Multiplayer sucks because you do all the work of knocking someone down on the enemy team and it sends out a beacon to everyone else on your team and then they take your kills.

I bought gears earlier this week & beat it yesterday with an associate online & I must say that I did enjoy myself.

Gears 1 was amazing as far as the story goes, I also found the online to be more fun than gears 2 online, as far as the story goes, it ain't too bad. Gears 3 is a definite buy just because of the sheer amount of awesome moments that the first 2 brought via campaign and online.

I had Gears of War 1 but i hated it. 2nd is such an improvement though. I love Gears 2 its so good.

i just got Gears of war 1 last week.And the online is hard at first especially if you have been playing Call of Duty or Halo and then jumping right into Gears online.but eventually you will get good at it you just have to find your play style.

If you like Gears 1 you will probably like Gears 2. Imo it has a better campaign, plus it has more multiplayer modes, better graphics, new weapons, the cover system is easier to use.

Yeah, Gears is one of the best exclusive series on the Xbox. It's good to see that you like it so much.

I like what Gears does to make for cool campaign moments.

but the linearity just kills the game. so restrictive. Halo is my type of game.

I'm going to pick up Gears along with a few other games like Forza 2 this week/month. The thing I like about the 360 is that I can find way more games on it cheaper than the PS3. I don't really care about how old a game is as long as it's good.

Gears 2 is better but you can't play it like you did in gears 1, different play style online. The SP is also better than the first.
