Just finished the single player about 5 minutes ago and i think people don't realise how good this game looks. I haven't really herd anyone say the game had bad graphics but no one has mentioned any-were how good they are. It has awesome lighting that looks even better since alot of the time hundreds of super hot plasma is being shot at you from all directions realisticly lighting up the environments.The brute character models are highly detailed and the environments are not repetitive and they all look great. Im sure its pushing the hardware further than games like gears of war because of all the action going on but i can understand why people think gears looks better. gears of war is a dark game with a more realistic artstyle.
yeah, you are right , toda i got my copy of halo 3, and i was blown away with the gfxs....they are not the best out there right now...but the are superior in every aspect to Halo 2 ones...
Halo 3 shows the importance of good Anti Aliassing.....: it looks good when you watch it back in the "save film" feature.. but in the gameplay, the jaggies make it look like less "next gen"...
Some elemants of the game just look bad (character animation..., trees) and some things look really good..
The multi player is just great. Save film feature is FANTASTIC..
i dunno guys... i played halo 3 all day yesterday and today on a samsung 56" 1080p and while i LOVE the game, i was kind of dissappointed in the overall graphics. I was playing on an elite through HDMI. Gears really does look a lot better. I'm not trying to bash halo 3 or anything, i'm sure they had to cut down on some of the graphics to keep from the game hitching up, but the graphics just arent as rediculously awesome as i expected them to be. just my opinion. its really only noticable on a higher-end hdtv. when my xbox is hooked up to a standard definition, its really not as noticable. if you've got an hd 1080p, pop halo 3 in and watch a cut scene. notice how the shadows on the character models jump around and look really bad. then pop in gears and watch a cut scene. you'll see what i mean.
they are not amazing they are decent, better than halo 2 but nothing really special, i was even playing on a 45' LCD and it was nothing special i think ur just too into halo to realize it
they're not amazing.... the colours are good, but there are definitely texture issues.... you look at the sides of mountains, cliffs etc. and they are all boxy
I was totally blown away by the grphics. Considering how much crap goes on at all times, I couldn't believe how detailed the models for the characters, weapons, and vehicles were. Plus the lighting in the campaign was unbelievable. Probably one of the best games thus far.
The gfx quality is not what i expected from all the hype etc... however the gameplay is totally the seller with this game so im happy i bought it. We had a few games on my friends projector in 720p and it DOES look good but its not the mindblowing graphics I was lead to believe from all the threads over the last few weeks...
... Halo 3 is totally playable and hell yes we had an 8 player juggernaught battle last night and it was awesome :D

I'll second that. Although I love Gears Of War, I like the graphics in Halo 3 better, personally. Much more colorful and varied. Not so dried out and metallic.
I think people ether think the graphics are amazing or just average, i agree that compared to games like gears, halo 3s environments are less detailed, textures are not as good and gears has more detailed models, but halo 3 makes up for all of that with lots of awesome effects and a great draw distance, and did anyone else notice the sky? Some of the best iv ever seen in a game.
The lighting,character models,most textures all look incredible.But the facial models,and some texture (like the grass or sand) could have been better.One thing that blew me away was the water.Maybe the most realistic water I have ever seen in a video game.The explosions and the scale of the game are also some of the best I have seen.
Okay, the lighting, draw distance, framerate, and some textures look great. My only issue is with character models and facial animations. They look straight outta Doom 3 and I'm not being sarcastic. Take a close look at some of the guys that are wounded sitting on the ground.
