The hard truth is that during gaming generation cross overs not all franchises survive and unfortunatily tenchu is one of them, and I feel that many people would be suprised to see their favourite 1st gen xbox games get slaughtered by the high standards of this generation.
The only step forward is to create new and fresh games with the same theme kept in mind, because after 3-4 sequals a games story and gamplay(unless completely updated) will feel very dated.
Games with high expectations will fall this generation mainly because gamers demand huge steps forward and developers seem to not stray too far from its predecessors to assure it doesnt flop since games are expensive to produce in this generation.
Iagree with how they say if you really play it how the developers intended then it's fun. I have some ninja fanatic friends and they love this game :P
Whoever makes these Tenchu games needs to just stop. The original on the PSX was alright, but it went downhill after that as the developers pumped out crappy sequel after crappy sequel hoping some diehard fanboys will be suckered into buying them.Afghan_Warrior
Actually, this is the first Tenchu game made by From Software. The rest were made by Acquire.

That explains why it's such a mediocre title.
I'm still gonna go buy it at lunch regardless of what the reviews say! I already knew what to expect from this series.EnderSR388
You knew to expect a mediocre game, that is a glaring example of what shouldn't be in video games? And you're still going to pay money for it? Wow.

Yeah you know why?? It's a crazy little thing called "fun". I know, crazy concept, huh? Like I said before, I, me personally, had fun playing the demo. Which means that more than likely I'll enjoy the retail version as well. I mean what is it with everyone, I might not have the same opinion as you and there might be games (Chromehounds, Bullet Witch, Just Cause come to mind) that I really enjoy playing, even though the reviews were "sub-par" by some peoples standards. So, yes, I guess I do like "mediocre" games. Why? Because they are still fun to play.
Edit: Sorry for seeming harsh, but I know what I like to play and what is fun to me.
Has any Tenchu fan say that the reviewer was biased?
ReverseCycology
Biased how?...I'm pretty sure the game just sucks. But since I haven't played the full version, I'm just going by the demo and reviews I've read.
I feel that the Tenchu games are targeted at a select few. There are those that LOVE it and call it art and then there are those that hate it and call it poop. I think they need to expand their horizons a little bit and in the next Tenchu game make the fighting system like Ninja Gaiden. Then, it would score higher then a 4.9 and appeal to the masses.

I guess I see what you're saying, but my personal experience has been if a game get's anything from a 6-7.9 it's usually a gray area where some people will use personal likes and dislikes to determine if a game is good or bad. 8.0 and up generally means a game is good or great to the majority of people and usually the ones that don't like it revolt to prove some sort of point.
A game that gets a 4.9 or lower always means it's a flaming pile of crap, because it has many of the problems that constitute a bad game. It's a no questions asked kind of scenario.
Not surprising in the slightest. Man in the demo level i swam from the begining straight to the end boss. And then all it did was tap x repeatedly and won. It was probably the worst game i have ever played on 360. People who bash Sonic havent seen Tenchu Z.

Your like someone who get's offered an full course prime rib dinner and says "no thanks i'll have the crappy cheeseburger and pay the same price!"
If I threw up my lunch for 2 weeks, and crapped out my dinner for a few days, add some spices, mix it together and serve it on a christmas platter, it would probably get a better rating than this game...and it would be more entertaining too!Grymreign
Lovely comparrison. Anyone up for some Chicken Alfredo?

Me! Olive Garden please?! :D
Didn't look good from the start. How do you expect it to get even a 6 with Graphics from n64
and such Linear boring gameplay.

Ok, so that's stupid. You missed the point of the demo then. So that would be your fault.

It's even more stupid that you're able to do this in the game. An Xbox 360 game should have smarter AI than a PS1 game. Sadly Tenchu Z does not.

I'm not disagreeing with you on that. But If you hated Tenchu back then, then you're most likely not going to like it now. I'm saying that I liked all the Tenchu games, which is why I'll like this one. I know the game has crappy AI, I know that it has horrible collision detection, I know that the graphics have always been below average and this has never changed, but I still like this series. And if played properly (yes I know the guards don't follow too far or notice that a friend has been offed) it's a lot of fun.

Nothing wrong with that. I'm not going to tell you what and what not to like. I've played through many low reviewed games, and I liked them. I hope you enjoy it. :D

Thanks! :)
Anyone who played the demo shouldn't be surprised by this. It's a shame too, because ninjas are pretty cool.
I REALLY want to see a GOOD (emphasis intentional) samurai game come out for 360... like that PS2 game Way of the Samurai... not a perfect game, but it COULD have been something big if they just worked with it a little.
