But yes they beefed it up quite a bit and I do agree that it is actually useful, the only thing that i didn't like was the fact that you couldn't dual weild them, atleast in the beta, is this the same as the full version.

No, and rightfully so. It takes like 10 shots from the thing to kill a brute when it takes 2 full mags of the assault rifle...

The needler is a absolute pimp in multiplayer. It constantly amazes players how quickly they die to it.

Pretty much the only weapon that is really useless now is.....the energy pistol. It still sucks.

Enemy snipers are starting to piss me off. Can't hit them, and sometimes I can't even dash between two objective points. What I get for putting it on Legendary.

Or, and the plasma pistol is a godsend. Play on Legendary and you will learn to appreciate how long they last...
