After not touching my 360 for a week I go to turn it on only to be greeted by the ring of death or three red lights. Its coo, I know its a common problem and I am sending it in for repairs. Now my friends 360 which he has had since launch which would be late 2005 has not had any problem since then. So he lets me borrow it today and i am completly careful with it like i always am with other ppls stuff. I use my cords and attach my hard drive to his, turn it on and boom! Another ring of death. Now this is either the biggest coincidence ever that his just breaks when i try to use it or... I dont know wtf else it would be. I called xbox to ask about his and the guy said there is no way it could be the hard drive so im jus confused. Has this happend to anyone else and do you have any idea what happened here?

well i played his the other day with my hard drive and earlier today, both times no problem but both times were in his room. this only happened when i moved his to my room. Ill offer to pay for any repairs but i have read that there is a 3 yr warranty for the flashing lights that covers the launch consoles, is that correct?

It might be your Av cables or something...is it a complete ring? Because the RRoD is only 3 quadrants

its only the 3 lights. I did all the test and know about the cables and even tried 2 different AV cables and power cords and 3 outlets.

I bought an Elite when they first came out and have not had any problems with it. I have taken it to my friends house a few times and just recently moved it with me from Texas to New Mexico. So I doubt it could be caused by moving it unless it was hit one something. You should just keep it well ventilated and make sure it is off the carpet and away from anything magnetic.

i havent shipped it yet. But now neither is working without the hard drive in. So do you guys think the hard drive did something to both systems and that the guy on the phone didnt know what he was talking about? I did buy the hard drive used from gamestop back in november, never had any problems.

Hmm, thats weird. Probably a coincidence. Either that or the area you keep your 360 at isn't well ventilated or theres possibly something wrong with your power cord.

maybe your power source isn't all that great. try using a surge protector on a different outlet when they get replaced.

About a week ago I got the red ring of death as well. I was pissed off just as much as you were. And desided to try turn it on with out my intercooler and my harddrive and then just switch them and see if anything made a diffirents. It wasent my harddrive it was my intercooler. Dont no if you have one but if you do try taking it off and turning it on. and then try with out your hardrive and if it works well you found your problem.......hope this works for you

It seems like the red rings have only become an outbreak lately, my friends and I all got the red rings within a month of each other, i got my 360 at launch, the others were only a year or so old.

Lol... I have gotten RRoD I think five times now and each time I unplug my cords and plug 'em back in and it works. And they say that's the solution for the four red lights...

Well anyway it would seem Microsoft will reap what they sow...they made a defective system and now must pay for such.

Heheh moving Xbox's can be bad and prove fatal in the form of the red ring. It may also be a horrifying coincidence.
