wth this is weird.....( wireless network adapter)

i just bought the wireless network adapter today and hooked it up and it says that my ip adress cant be found so i went into networking settups and it says that im connected to my neighbors computer. it says their last name's computer so is there any way to solve this? also my computer is upstairs and my xbox360 is downstairs

i disconnected and now there are options like


create  ad-hoc network

specify unlisted network

what to do?

and how can i find the wireless network on my computer??
