Actually if you take a look at its profit margin, you will be amazed. Wal-Mart is not the ideal stock candidate because its profit margin is really low. I don't remember about Exxon Mobil, but I think it is the number one if you take everything into consideration. So yeah, MS is nowhere near Exxon Mobil, the only thing that comes close is the Market Price (stock).

well yeah, wal-marts profit margin is low... BECAUSE THEY ARE A RETAILER.  that's kind of how they work...

people refer to microsft as M$ (well, only the really clever people) because microsoft has a very very strange business model... they design and sell products, for money!  i know, sounds crazy... see, companies like sony and nintendo are not-for-profit companies, kind of like hospitals or the salvation army.  but that sly microsoft, they're in the business to make money... i'll never understand it, but i guess if it makes them happy, more power too them.  goooooooooooo M$!
