Hey

I just got my xbox360 yesterday and have setup all my profiles etc. However, lately my internet has been playing up a bit (random disconnecting and unstable broadband) and its most likely my isp's fault (I'm going to call up sometiem this week).

Anyway, because of this, whenever im playing my 360 it keeps popping up with messages saying "you have been disconnected from xbox live" for obvious reasons. So i was wandering if there is anyway to use your xbox live profile 'offline', without unplugging the ethernet cable? Because to my knowledge, any gamerscore points that you get offline will auto-update online the next time you connect to xbox live using that account. So is there anyway (more specifically; any button/option) that i can use to disconnect from the internet side of xbox live through the 360's dashboard?

And also as a side note; because of these random in-game disconnects (because of my isp/broadband provider), will this make my xbox360 unstable in anyway? i.e: can it screw up the updating etc..? or is it perfectly fine?

Your feedback is very much appreciated :)

Cheers

no it wont make your system unstable, all its saying is that your connection has dropped and your gamer tag will work with the system live or disconnected.

ur not using torrents or p2p on other computers in the house thats a reason why this will happen also go on network settings do a xbox live test and ur NAT has to say OPEN for xbox live to work with no problems if it dont say open then goto www.portforward.com find your router/modem and then look for xbox 360 live and it shows u how to do forward the ports needed for ur xbox to open ur nat

If anyone is doing anything connection heavy on the computer, then you're likely to get disconnected. Things like MMOs or torrents would be examples.

To stay offline from XBL, plug the ethernet/wireless adaptor out from the back of your Xbox. It's that simple.

If it has only started being a problem in the last week it could be because of the recent update - I was dropping from Live loads for the first few days (15+ times in 5 hours) while my connection to the internet was fine on my PC. I didn't have anything else running/downloading while having the problems.

It has got much better now

The only way I imagine it would cause any problems if your connects drop is if it drops in the middle of an update, may corrupt the data, maybe.

I play with my (online) profile offline all the time and never had any problems.
