First off, I've got no problem paying for online service to play games online. I love nothing more then after completing a shooter on my 360 then having mad fun in matches on XBL :)

Now, I think pricing is totally unfair when it comes to Downloadable content. I mean, why is it... I can get 2 packs for Rainbow Six Vegas that have 2 new online modes and like... 10 new maps for free (not to mention how big the maps are, too) but I have to pay 800 MS points for 4 new maps for Gears of War? Not to mention the maps in Gears are never all that big, for reasons, I know but still, that's not the point.

Also, Guitar Hero II... 500 pts for what? 4 songs! When only 1-2 of the songs are actually worth it o.O

Who else thinks some of the prices for downloadable content is a total rip off?

I totally agree with you man. One of the reasons I bought GH2 was for the simple fact that it promised a lot of DLC to keep the game fresh. And then they released the content, and it turned out to be GH1 broken into little chunks. I don't mind that the content was old, but there is no way I'm going to pay that much for those songs. I could get the whole game on PS2 for a lot less. On a positive note, I think that we are going to see a shift in the way DLC is handled. The Gears maps will be free in September, Lost Planet has free maps, and with Rainbow Six following suit, I think we will see more freebies or at least cheaper content down the road. I guess MS overestimated people's willingness to continue to pay for games after they've bought them.

No clue why the Rainbow 6 packs are free. This is the reason MS made Epic charge for their maps, so you don't question why some games are free and others are not. Most of the content is well priced, I thought the crackdown content was ok for $10. But you are right about the GH songs, paying money for songs from GH1? Come on!

Well you get 3 new cars (very good cars might I add, Tank/buggy/speed car with amazing handling) the 3 new guns he said (werid grenade lobber/harpoon gun that can stick bodies to cars/mini gun) plus the new rocket and rooftop chases that he find worthless. They also added Street race's and 250 more achievement points.

For people like me that played the crap out of the co-op in that game the download was worth it.

Edit: How could I forget the Proximity Charge and the Cloaking Device!

Blame the people who buy off Xbox Live, there's no point blaming the companies, because they know the consumer will purchase these add ons.

i think that live price is fair but i pay 60 bucks for points and you dont really get much. also the 3rd party is to blame for the over price content

It's not the 3rd party's fault. It's the consumer, if the consumer wouldn't buy these "add ons" then they would not sell them.

I dunno. I guess I was just expecting them to allow the player to level up even higher. I played Crackdown for a while, held onto it until word got out concerning the DLC, and then traded it in. It was a fun game, but I don't play on live all that often, so I was a little disapointed with the single player stuff. I was just hoping that the DLC would revolve around that aspect.

And to Scriptwrite: that's why I don't buy anything from live in regards to new multiplayer maps. I will pick up Shimmering Isles at some point because it's an expansion pack, but I refuse to pay for multiplayer levels. I won't pay for new weapons or cars that should have been included from the start, and I won't buy songs for GH2. I just don't see the point in paying 60 for a game, and then dumping an additional 10 or 20 into it. If you add it up, given the cost of the 360 elite plus all the DLC people pay for, they could easily afford the PS3.

I'm not sure, Pika. They still charge for content for Perfect Dark Zero (at least they did the last time I checked), so odds are that most content will have a price attached to it. I do think that in the next few months we will see more free stuff, but most likely we will see a price reduction in regards to what they do charge for.

well you must rememeber its not all up to MS, i mean epic also has a big say in how much they want the DLC to be, and the other game developers as well, not just the publishers.
