Nope. I'm an average looking guy and if anyone says anything about me i could careless. I doubt that anyone that needs to insult others to feel better about themselves can win a beauty pageant.

That's stupid... I love the avatars for the exact same reasons you hate them.

I want people to know what I look like, also I want to make fun of the way other people look

I like the avatars. I wouldn't miss them if they were gone, but I nevertheless think it's a nice addition.

I think the avatars are a bit cack but they are a decent addition, the old xbox dashboard was getting a bit old. Anyway, why should you care what others think of you just be yourself :)

Before NXE I didn't think I would like them - but now I like them WAY better than the old stale unmoving pics of the old LIVE interface. All the way around there's nothing I don't like about the NXE really.

No, I think all the racists and overly aggressive, foul mouthed players have already ruined it. The avatars are such a small feature that you hardly notice them. I mean it's not like that pop up in every game you play or anything. Plus I never assume that the avatar is an exact representation of the player using it. Although mine is. :?

Mine is too - so maybe it's more common than we think. LOL - that's kinda scary. :P

I agree though that there are allot bigger annoyances on XBL than Avatars.

TC - Even if you make your Avatar just like you and it's absolutely ugly - who cares - it's an expression of you - be proud of who you are! Don't define yourself by others perception of you in this life or you will be doomed to a long and depressing existence as you will ALWAYS have people who don't like you no matter who you are or what you look like.

I think the Avatars are cool! I don't see why anyone would care what others said about them, they are just Avatars. It's not like they are EXACT replicas of people. And most of the time my buddies just do stuff that looks crazy because they can.

Never be ashamed of who you are, and never listen to the morons on Live.

Why do you have shallow people on your Friends List? As opposed to changing your avatar, you should just remove them from your list. This should be your heads up that they aren't worth dealing with.

Takes a pretty pathetic person to criticize somebody over a virtual character.

not only do i rarely ever actually see anyone besides my friends avatar (and i rarely see theirs as well), i dont know a single person who looks like there avatar (maybe one poor soul), the avatars are not a big deal, stop blowing it outta proportion.

love em or leave em you dont need to hate em.

No, I don't think they "ruined" anything. Although, I do believe by having visual representation of the live user it does open up more opportunities for bigots. However, the addition of the party system completely offsets the odds of actually hearing the ignorant spew off at the mouth. ;)

To be honest, I don't believe that I've encountered a single incident in which my XBL avatar played any part in my daily life. If your friends are going to make fun of you because of a misrepresentation of your appearance, ask 'em how many of them are surfing for real-life friends on XBox Live.

Honestly, I like the first response this got; that he's an average looking guy, doesn't care. That's pretty much the boat I think most people are in - and if you're that hideous - that repulsive - that "abysmal" that your friends don't want you lying to other people about it - maybe you should get to the mall and pick yourself up some new threads, instead of your avatar.

The problem here does not fall on the avatars, the problem here is your obviously delusioned perpective, self-image, and character judgment.

It is a digital avatar, have fun with it or ignore it. Don't put so much weight on it and attempt to make it bigger than it really is by making threads like this.

Me thinks you might need to stay away from drugs and alcohol when you grow up, it would be like fuel to fire with such warped thinking such as that.

Sounds like someone going through puberty... Honestly kid it's just an avatar & real people wouldn't care about that sort of thing. I guess it's pretty hard if you have an ugly mug. I mean you wouldn't believe how many times I get judged by people just by looking at my physical appearance & somehow they always are wrong. If you are affected by people online then you really need to get a life most people over there are immature runts who thinks that because they're good at a game that they are awesome or something. Avatars are cool but I found it really doesn't represent the player just by looking at it., I'm an asian & pretty good looking & I just can't find the right avatar so I just made someone who looks like a hippie.

The problem is in your head. People judge other people based on looks w/c is shallow. But if you take into heart every feedback that you receive you wouldn't have you're own identity. & also If you're so conscious as to how you look online... I wonder how you're real life is like? fact of the matter is you can't please everyone so JUST BE YOURSELF & EXPRESS YOURSELF for who you are don't go crumblin because someone didn't like what you wore that day or you had a bad hairday everyone has those kinds of days especially when you're growin up.

Personally I don't like the avatars, but I don't think they ruined Xbox Live 'cause they do not interfere in my games at all. It's just a way to attract more people into casual games like Kingdom for Kefflings (or something like that, don't remember the name). It's not as I have to play with my avatar in any game, their inclusion in the NXE is just irrelevant for me... I guess mine hasn't changed it's clothes since I downloaded the NXE :P

I think the avatars are great, I enjoyed creating my own avatar representing myself, have only changed the clothes once when they added the winter stuff. I like being able to see how people on my friends list represent themselves (the friends I do know, it's cool to see the similarities, the ones I don't, it gives some idea of what they look like), and I haven't had anyone even comment on my avatar but if they made fun of it, who cares? Honestly, I couldn't care less what some kid whose mom bought him an Xbox and some M-rated game he shouldn't be playing thinks. It's like arguing over the internet or insulting other players; those of us who actually have lives just laugh at the sad little people whose can only make themselves feel good by insulting people they don't know.

Bottom line: avatars are fun and by no means ruin Xbox or XBL.

i agree somewhat. Games like COD4 and Halo3, ever since that update, the majority of the time the room is silent and no one is talking to the team. Its sometimes frustrating.

Before I used NXE I thought the avatar thing was going to be stupid, but after I used it I only thought it was lame. I'll admit it was kinda fun designing an avatar but in the end rather pointless considering you don't use it for anything (yes I'll admit it all I do on my 360 is play games). If some one goes so far as to make fun of my avatar in a bad way I doubt they're on my friends list to begin with and if they are I'll just block/ignore them and move on in life. I think you're taking avatars way too seriously; if they bother you that much just get rid of it and go back to the old style.
