Avatars are just something extra thrown in, nothing console shattering. i think they're pretty lame. so much emo crap. xD srsly alot
i started to make a serious avatar and it just looked gay so then I just tried to make a zombie. needs torn up clothes.
I think the avatars are a bit cack but they are a decent addition, the old xbox dashboard was getting a bit old. Anyway, why should you care what others think of you just be yourself :)
No, I think all the racists and overly aggressive, foul mouthed players have already ruined it. The avatars are such a small feature that you hardly notice them. I mean it's not like that pop up in every game you play or anything. Plus I never assume that the avatar is an exact representation of the player using it. Although mine is. :?EnderSR388
Mine is too - so maybe it's more common than we think. LOL - that's kinda scary. :P
I agree though that there are allot bigger annoyances on XBL than Avatars.
TC - Even if you make your Avatar just like you and it's absolutely ugly - who cares - it's an expression of you - be proud of who you are! Don't define yourself by others perception of you in this life or you will be doomed to a long and depressing existence as you will ALWAYS have people who don't like you no matter who you are or what you look like.
Never be ashamed of who you are, and never listen to the morons on Live.
Why do you have shallow people on your Friends List? As opposed to changing your avatar, you should just remove them from your list. This should be your heads up that they aren't worth dealing with.
Takes a pretty pathetic person to criticize somebody over a virtual character.
not only do i rarely ever actually see anyone besides my friends avatar (and i rarely see theirs as well), i dont know a single person who looks like there avatar (maybe one poor soul), the avatars are not a big deal, stop blowing it outta proportion.
love em or leave em you dont need to hate em.
To be honest, I don't believe that I've encountered a single incident in which my XBL avatar played any part in my daily life. If your friends are going to make fun of you because of a misrepresentation of your appearance, ask 'em how many of them are surfing for real-life friends on XBox Live.
Honestly, I like the first response this got; that he's an average looking guy, doesn't care. That's pretty much the boat I think most people are in - and if you're that hideous - that repulsive - that "abysmal" that your friends don't want you lying to other people about it - maybe you should get to the mall and pick yourself up some new threads, instead of your avatar.
anyone else feel pressure by them to hide who you really are and youre constantly changing yours because of a question someone on your fl asked you? now..these avatars are kinda like a representation of who you are, like the clothing you wear people see your clothes and they make judgements about you. imo the avatars have ruined the online experiences and shoudlve just stayed on the wii. it has turned everyone into shallow (omgg!! WHERES THE NEW CLOTHING FOR AVATARSS!!!) gamers and before there was no reason to be shallow because you didnt know who the people you were playing were just faceless people. FreakyAmerican6unless you're an insecure individual, there's no reason to be taken back by XBL Avatars
The problem here does not fall on the avatars, the problem here is your obviously delusioned perpective, self-image, and character judgment.
It is a digital avatar, have fun with it or ignore it. Don't put so much weight on it and attempt to make it bigger than it really is by making threads like this.
"anyone else feel pressure by them to hide who you really are and youre constantly changing yours because of a question someone on your fl asked you?"
Me thinks you might need to stay away from drugs and alcohol when you grow up, it would be like fuel to fire with such warped thinking such as that.

nope
I think the avatars are great, I enjoyed creating my own avatar representing myself, have only changed the clothes once when they added the winter stuff. I like being able to see how people on my friends list represent themselves (the friends I do know, it's cool to see the similarities, the ones I don't, it gives some idea of what they look like), and I haven't had anyone even comment on my avatar but if they made fun of it, who cares? Honestly, I couldn't care less what some kid whose mom bought him an Xbox and some M-rated game he shouldn't be playing thinks. It's like arguing over the internet or insulting other players; those of us who actually have lives just laugh at the sad little people whose can only make themselves feel good by insulting people they don't know.
Bottom line: avatars are fun and by no means ruin Xbox or XBL.
i dunno about the avitars but IMO party chat ruined alot of xbox live. It takes away alot of the teamwork needed in SOME games.xSithiSxi agree somewhat. Games like COD4 and Halo3, ever since that update, the majority of the time the room is silent and no one is talking to the team. Its sometimes frustrating.

i think you are taking the avatars a little too seriously....i love them...i have no reason to hide who i am or what i wear based on an avatar....i definitely don't think xbl is ruined by avatars...i like the addition of them
