I just got a 720P HDTV for my 360. I have the display on my 360 set to 1080P. Games look great and play fine. Should I switch the settings to 720P or just leave them. Is there even going to be a difference?

If its 720P put it on 720p. There is no benefit to 1080p other than making your xbox work harder and possibly introducing video lag to your tv.

it could also overheat your 360. 1080p isnt very good unless you have HDMI cables but since most 360 games are done in 720p just leave the settings there. I have a 720p plasma and everything looks great on it

I have a 720p plasma and I run my 360 on the 1080i setting. I have found on my tv I would rather have a higher resolution and sacrafice progresive scan.

Here is how I see it, 720p under 40" 1080p over 40" however seeing as 720p is your native resolution 1080p isn't going to look any different then 720p on your TV, also setting your HDTV to 1080i is just going to make your resolution look like crap, 1080i is the considered the low end of the HD resolutions, and you should really look towards a progressive scan resolution over Interlaced anyways.

Well seeing as I don't have a 1080p television I can't run my tv at 1080p. It's a 50" television so you can deffinetly see a difference on most games running at the higher resolution so it's worth sacrificing pregressive scan.

Before using HDMI I tried out the 1080i resolution with the component cables and the picture was kinda washed out and there was also some ghosting. So I'd recommend the 720p setting.

Edit: Oh and the television is only HDready, so no 1080p support. That might explain the problems.

I have a 19" HD tv that autmatically play 1080i.

And it doesn't lag on anything.

If the resolution is 1080i native then there will be no up/down scaling lag.
