Ok, so I bought some component hookups yesterday and they worked fine, but I found out that they don't upscale regular DVD's (neither does my PS3).  So I buy the VGA today and the picture looks a little clearer, but now I get a windowboxed picture.  I have a widescreen TV and I set the resolution to 1920 x 1024 and it does fill up the TV but there's about a 2" black border around the edges (my tv is 62").

Is there something I'm doing wrong or is this the case with all VGA inputs?  If it is, I'll go back to my component inputs which filled up the TV very nicely and upscaling my standard DVD's isn't that big of a deal.

Any help/input is much appreciated!

check the options under the Xbox's menu, like when your playing a video, move an analog stick and go over to the BOX looking icon and press "A" on that a couple times, that changes the picture size, so it might change how it's being displayed and fix your problem, I'm not sure though.

It's either going to be the settings on your TV or the settings on your 360. I'm not sure how you would adjust your TV since they are all different. But if it's your 360, you go in the system blade on the 360, then console setup, then display, you should be able to set it up for your proper resolution and ensure that it's widescreen.

Its probably your TV. I have a 55" Sony SXRD and if I use the VGA for my 360 there's a massive border around the screen and it doesn't even fit the screen. I did some research and all Sony SXRD's do it...so maybe its your TV as well.

It must be my TV because I've got the 1920 x 1024 resolution mode and the tv type set to widescreen. Hmmm...I'll compare it against my component once more and see if the VGA thing is really worth it. Thanks for everyone's help so far...
