I mean this has been a concern of mine and probably many people for a long time. It was even mentioned in the 1Up yours podcast this week. The idea is that Microsoft must change its strategy so that it can compete with the Wii. This means that software and controllers will be changed so that they are more directed and friendly towards casual gamers. If this doesn't happen on the 360, maybe this will happen on the next Xbox. This is exactly what I don't want to happen and I am one who believes that the Wii is possibly going to severely damage the gaming market for the competitive and hardcore gamers that buy Playstations and Xbox's. I love the Xbox 360 controller and I feel it is the best controller ever designed, yet it is not for those who arn't gamers. Why are these companys directing their attention towards non-gamers and forgeting about those of us who are.How can this outcome be stopped?

I don't see how the controller could be made any more simpler.
MS know what they are doing; they wouldn't risk aiming it at casual gamers and neglect hardcore gamers, they know alot of their revenue comes from that sector of the gaming community.

Well it would seem that they are looking at these things. "Seen it" is an example of this, they are interested in trying to get into the casual gamer market. Everyone is because of the Wii's success. Like I said I hope this never happens, I mean I don't even want motion sensing in my games.

Well come on. Someone is making a huge profit off of one thing(Nintendo's casuals)someone else always has to try to get a piece of that action. It's just business. I hope the 360 and PS3 don't go in that direction and abandon the people that got them there.\ Oh and I like the PS controller better. But we all have different opinion. Some people like a controller that is like a T.V. remote.

Yeah, they are interested in getting the casual market in, but they aren't changing their controller. They're adding new games, including one that was announced that comes with a special controller. If you look at the 360's game line-up, it is far from a casual game dominated list.

Ya sorry should ofsaid IMO, I also own a PS3 as well, just seem to find the 360 a little more ergonomic.

Very simple; because most people aren't gamers. The idea is to get those who don't game to pick up a controller and buy your products. Think of non-gamers as an untapped reserve of income, and that's why they're doing that. For what it's worth, I myself believe that all products made for nongamers are shallow pieces of crap, but sell well, and therefore don't take all that much production time, leaving more production value for the games they take more time on for gamers. Take Bioshock. Amazing game, took tons of production time. It'll sell well, but not THAT well. It'll net about 40% of the gamer crowd, and 0% of the nongamer crowd. That doesn't total out to very much.

it's the narrow minded gamers who make me sick with rage, always saying the consoles like the wii and the DS are worthless hardware, well....if gaming is to EVER evolve, there does need to be changes...and nintendo for one are very good at this, and changes which are more than just graphics and storage medium upgrades which seems to be the only consistent trends within the last decade. I personally liked some of the gaming innovations like the analog/Thumb stick, Rumble/Shock hardware, trigger buttons, wireless controllers, the wii mote, a touch screen (originally found on PDAs and other devices, but now well executed on the DS), Light weapons (including the enforcer and the snes scope) hell even the mouse and keyboard are great controllers for games. Oh nearly forgot tilt and microphones....they're all great ideas, just if they're not properly used of course they're gonna suck

I don't want MS to try to become more like Nintendo, then we won't have the variety in the industry.

Oh and 360 controller = best controller ever made. Other than the POS d-pad, it's perfect.

Right, so even though I own a Wii, 360, PS2, and a smattering of consoles dating back to mid 80's, I'm clearly a casual gamer. Fantastic logic you're rocking there. Just because they've hit an enormous untapped market doesn't mean those are the only people buying it or playing it.

Games like Zelda and Resident Evil 4 are sure as hell not casual games. The Wii still has SOME non-casual games, just like some 360 games are casual.

the wii isnt selling out because of casual gamers, its selling out because its like a side system, it has a low price tag, original game play, and not too many good games. i say its been marketed as a system where u get because its fun to play and it cost peanuts compared to others so its like why not.

I love 360 is the best console i ever had well its the N64 but the 360 has a lot of sales but the wii is gaining to much because of the casual gamers but We the Hardcore Gamers like the 360 and PS3 because they have good games (especially the 360 ) The Xbox 360 is not becoming a wIII THEY ONLY WANT THE CASUAL GAMER TO LOOK AT THEIR CONSOLE
