I have the Halo 3 edition xbox 360 and ever since i had my xbox, ever since the halo 3 edition came out. my xbox has been screwing over my discs. i did a little bit of research. and i dont know how to tell like what kind of cd drive i need. and i read something about someone with the same problem and sticking the new drive in. and having the xbox say stick the disc in a xbox 360 console, somoething about software or whatever. where could i look to find what drive i need. and when i stick it in. what software or whatever i need.

If you put in a new disc drive then you will void your warranty on your xbox 360. Im not sure what disc drive you need but i do know that ther s a special chip inside of the disc drive used to counteract pirating. If you swap out your disc drive for another that could potentially ban you from live due to "hardware Modification". I know it suks but i would register your consol online and send it in for repair and or replacement. Request a repair on xbox.com. If you fix it yourself you void your RROD warranty and you could potentially break something like the chip plugged into the drive and your SOL, trying to find that chip on the net is hard. So in short send it in fro repair thru xbox.com. Most of the time that is the best choice.

Honestly you wont get much for your xbox 360 if you sell it to gamestop id say like 60 bucks considering its been 5 years since the console came out. They will rip you off, so honestly jsut send taht **** in and get it fixed. register it online, request a repair. if they charge you to fix it then just have them sned it back and fix it when you ahve the money or save up money for a new one. I ove gaming on consoles, but sometimes its situations like these that make me happy i own a PC. good luck with your xbox dude, i ran into a problem like this before.

I think gamestop right now is giving $30 extra trade in on a console, if you are buying a new console. That should put your Xbox around $100. Just trade it in for a new arcade, and that will be cheaper than sending your xbox to Microsoft, if you are out of warranty, which the DVD drive only has the standard warranty.
