I don't know if anyone else has been doing the math with all of the price drops going on with Microsoft but now you can get the Arcade Console for $199.99 which includes I believe 5 arcade titles and a memory unit and wireless controller. Then purchase the 120 gb hd for a price dropped $149.99. Which means once you put them together you officially have an Elite 360 in White for exactly $50 cheaper than the $399.99 Black Elite and you get Bonus Arcade Games and a Bonus Memory Unit. I believe that this is the best deal you will find out there. Thanks for reading.

"Begin playing:Xbox 360 Arcade console is everything you need to begin playing right out of the box, includingFamily Settingsthat allow parents to restrict game access for younger players. Comes with a wireless controller, five arcade games, and a memory unit. This console includes an HDMI output, so you can experience your games in the highest definition possible, up to 1080p (HDMI cable sold separately)."

unless your talking about it not coming with an HDMI cable then who cares go to monoprice or newegg and pick one up for 10 bucks.

You actually don't save anything doing it like this. Buying the arcade version you miss out on the HD AV cable, HDMI cable, a headset. Thats at least $100 right there if you want all that. Check this out....http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/compare101.htm

If you do that though and buy a non-microsoft HDMI cable then you are sacrificing surround sound unless you have your otical cable through your TV. If you get the Micorosft HDMI, it comes with an extra cable that allows you to connect an optical to the 360, whereas if you dont, you cant since theres no optical output on the motherboard.

Not bad. But it just doesnt come with the HDMI cable, and the optical audio adapter. But you can buy those two things in a package that they sell seprately for like 50. But if you dont need the audio adapter, and just want a HDMI cable, you can buy one for 10 bucks online (HDMI is all the same).

That's a good find. You will need to buy either an HDMI or Component cable to get HD picture, and an ethernet cable to get online, but those together won't cost 50 bucks, plus this way you get the Arcade disc and a memory unit.

I expect we will see the Elite get a price drop soon when they realise this

if it werent for the lack of the official hdmi cable then it would probably be a good deal.i wish microsoft would just sell the audio dongle separately because i refuse to pay 50 for an hdmi cable when i could get one for 5 dollars at monoprice.

My god, sound is sound and a picture is a picture. Does it really matter if it comes with this HDMI cable you all keep crying about? Will that save you from a death in Halo, Cod, etc? Will it help you play better? No to all the above. Its a great deal.

The big issue with that is that if you need to have audio come from something other than the HDMI cable itself, then you need the MS HDMI package. Also, the arcade unit only comes with just a standard A/V cable, as opposed to Component Video or VGA.

Since we're all on the topic... how much memory does the Arcade come with, and can you still get Live with it?

This is for someone who wants to play games only, and ocasionally online.

you miss out on the headset, wireless controller, the hd-av lead, the hdmi lead, the opticle out dongle for external opticle 5.1 sound while using hdmi. theys plenty of stuff missing. but once all these price drops kick in i can see the elite either dropping in price or its going to get upgraded so the elite can keep its price . bigger hd etc

You sure you didnt buy the CORE sku, which was the cheapest 360 model before the Arcade. Because that came with a wired controller.

Well if you add the cost of all the cable that come with the Elite then you will pay more then the cost of the Elite. I have an Elite and did do the math to get all of what the Elite has but for less. After adding all the numbers I save close to $100 by buying the Elite.

With the new pricing most people are better off buying the Elite. I have a falcon-chip Premium w/120G HDD over the Elite because I like the peripherals to match (remote, charger, text-pad, HD player).

The new pricing is tempting me to pick up an Elite though but I don't think it'll happen since I have a Halo 3 unit still unused and new in the box.
