My bro exchanged his premium for an elite when it died. He's not too impressed, he says only difference is it's black. Of course it has a larger hdd, updated disc drive and chip but I noticed that when we were playing my copy of army of two on it it kept freezing. He said his elite always freezes. IDK, I want a bigger HDD but if it's having problems still I might as well stay with my premium that's never had one hiccup.

Apart from being black and having a larger HDD, isn't an elite essentially the same console as you get if you buy a new Premium?

Old Premiums didn't have HDMI, but the newer ones do, so I don't think you would be much better off getting an elite than just another premium

6 months ago I would have said yes - as the MB and some other parts were different in the Elite. With the new Falcon Premium systems though there is really not much difference other than color and hard drive size.

Rest assured that if you get a Premium with the Falcon core you shouldn't have problems like you've had with your previous consoles.

i have had the elite since it came out and i never had any problems with it. untill this past christmas it got the ring of death, it was about 6 mionths old and had many hours of playing time. i got good use out of the system but i had to get it repaired, it took about 3 weeks for it to be repaired, in the long run they sent me a new system and it has been nothing but a dream no problems with it at all, the only problems that i have encountered latly would have to xbox live's servers crashing, other than this i have no complants really, i give the sytem and 8 of 10

And that it comes with a 120 Gig instead of the 20 Gig Hard Drive. But yeah, the Premium underwent 2 Hardware changes end of last year (First the HDMI Port and then a new Motherboard) and is now absolutely identical to the Elite.

Went through 2 premimums due to RROD and bought an Elite, had to send that back for a new DVD drive...its a crap shoot with all models as they all are of the same shoddy construction.

I've had two elites die on me. the first one died the same day I got it (brand new 3 hours old I got the RROD) my second elite rrod about 6 months later. I have also had 3 pro 360's rrod on me too. It is sad but the elite is no better then any other 360.

To answer your first question I'd stick with the pro unless you will be downloading tons of stuff off live. Even so you can purchase a larger HDD and problem solved.

As for your second question I'm not sure that there is any definite spot anyone can just say unless its a chain store ie:Best Buy. I had a warranty offered to me by a place called game zone which is a part of movie gallery and it was a 2 year warranty. My suggestion though would be to simply shop around some if you are easily able or just call stores or visit web sites. Hope some of this helps:P

I had a launch xbox which RRODed on me so i sold it and bought an Elite on launch day. The Elite RRODed on me about 2 months ago and I'm on my second elite console. It may be a tad bit quieter because it's new but I think it's pretty much the same as the premium but has HDMI input and it's black.

if its a OLD pro or premieum, then yes it will run better, but a new eltie vs a new pro... no difference
