Hey all

I'm having trouble with my Xbox 360's framerate lately. With Fallout 3, Call of Duty : WaW and Halo 3, the framerate seems to be choppy, and it's skipping frames.

I bought my Xbox 360 last year, so it's not that old.

I have installed most of my games to the HDD (exept for halo3).

My xbox 360 is in an open space, laying horizontal.

Does someone has any idea what might be wrong, and what I can possibly do about it?

Thanks.

I've never had this problem, except with Oblivion and Bioshock. I don't install my games to my hard drive, and I don't really have too many problems. But the Bioshock problem occurred because of an update, and I had to "clear the cache" by holding the 'A' button from the time the startup screen finishes until the title screen for the game appears. That usually fixes most game problems for me.

Well some games will have lower framerates then others, I mean Fallout 3 for example doesnt exactly have the best framerate, but if you mean like really noticable skipping then you could try changing the display reolution. In terms of what it could be hardware wise a PC gamer like myself would put it down to overheating causing system stress, but with an Xbox 360 they usually just die instantly out of the blue rather then lower in performance over time.

Fallout 3 peformed wonderfull before, but now, it's really skipping frames. I always used the same screen resolution, lowering it down doesn't seem to work:|

Now Halo 3 and Call of Duty : WaW have the same problems:(.

I've had 4 hardware failures since buying an Xbox 360 & each time I had performance issues with games that gradually progressed to even the dashboard until finally killing other & showing RROD. I hope this isn't what your experiencing.

Does those 3 games mess up every time you play?

If it was previously working it might be a hardware issue. GFX card might have something wrong with it for example. It might be worth sending it in to MS to get it repaired.

The only time I've noticed unusually 'choppy' frame-rates, was when my Xbox was getting really over-heated (on a ridiculously hot summer day).

Next time it happens, maybe check if the back of the console is abnormally hot.

If it is, could be a problem with one of the fans: Either a hardware malfunction or just needing the dust blown out.

Hope this helps.

You might want to try and delete the cache from your HDD.

(I only read the OP)

1. Try deleting the cache

2. Try freeing up some space on your HD

3. Decide if you want a coffin or cremation

Try a cache clear Go to your HHD and on the rename option press X, X, LB, RB, X, X, then select yes

Only time this has happened to me is when I cleared the cache for a game(oblivion) I had bought expansions for thus erasing the online update and then playing the game offline without the update but with the expansions totally messed the game up. I highly recommend you immediately re download any online updates for games with dlc if you plan to play them right away offline after clearing the cache. I don't think this happens much because most people stay connected to xbl all the time, whereas I hate routers so I switch manually and only do it when I plan to play a game online or because of stupid xbl arcade drm problems. So when I erased the cache and was offline the update wasn't auto downloaded again and the game was messed up with the dlc without the update. Hope this helps, if not I have no clue heh.

Thanks all for reactions.

I deleted Fallout 3 from the HDD with the save data and the expansions.

Now it seems to run smooth again.Time to time, a frame skip, but I guess that's because the game is huge.

Halo 3 and CoD:WaW seem to run smooth again too, after I cleared some HDD space.
