Hey, alot of my friends have 360s (including me) but my other friend got himself a PS3.... Me and him were just wondering wether there would ever be a way to play across the internet together... PS3 LIVE (or whatever) Vs Xbox360 Live.

I dont think Ive explained it very well but you get what I mean. Are there any games scheudueld for this multiformat internet gaming?

Bewteen 360 and PS3, no way.

Xbox uses Xbox Live of course, its own unified onlien  network.

PS3 games use Playstation Network ( or could use different things liek X Fire. )

SO even though both are online, theyh use different networks, so there is no way to communicate.

I highly doubt that this sort of thing will happen anytime in the near future, although admittedly it would nice for gamers if it did. By the way, just a word of advice, your subject line makes it look like you are making a statement on which system has better backwards compatibility with the use of the ">" sign. I was all set to come in here and kindly but firmly direct you to go to system wars.

Sony and Microsoft are competing against each other, so obviously no.

There are however, games planned for cross platform play between Xbox 360 and PC.

It would be cool but that will never happen anytime soon, they are competing why join when you can stomp out the opponent... would be fun though.  It's cool to see the 360 playing with the PC though.

no you cannot do this.  Microsoft and sony are competitors so they will not work together.  Both consoles use different networking codes.

The PS3 does not have an online gaming service and you cannot expect cross platform. Developers host their own games for the PS3 unlike the 360.

There is Final Fantasy XI. Xbox 360 players can play along with people running it on PS2, PS3, and PC. Other then that, theres nothing. Like the others said, I doubt in the future MS and Sony would work together to allow cross-platform gaming. Would be nice though.

That is a MMO game that everyone pays a monthly fee to play. There is a big difference.

That is only able to happen because the 360 version uses Squares,"PlayOnline" service.  every other game uses Xbox Live ( or PS3 games

 could use their own service.)
