ok i have the halo edition xbox 360[built in hdmi input a spanking new toshiba 40" lcd 40RV525U tv and i use the optical output on my tv for sound on my logitech z5000. ok heres the problem. a week ago i bought a new sony 40" bravia and i had to return it. i usually use component inputs green/red/blue.etc. and id connect the optical output right from the xbox adapter. but with the new tvs now they use hdmi i tried it out and i saw that i have to connect optical output from my tv instead. when i did that with the bravia, the hdmi cable would cut out the optical output. but the visual was perfect the xbox would pop up the hdmi settings. i went to return the tv because all the bravias would cut out the optical output when hdmi is connected. stupid i know. so i got a toshiba instead. the optical output works fine. when component is connected but when i connect the hdmi cable optical cuts out. and the hdmi settings dont show up on my xbox 360 at all!? is it my hdmi cable thats being stupid? do i need an official xbox hdmi cable? or is it the tv settings? plz respond. i cant play cod4 with just stereo sound. i cant hear footsteps behind me!!
p.s. also the dude at future shop checked this tv with hdmi and optical output and it worked but he tried it on a blu ray. is there a diff between blu ray hdmi signals and xbox360s?
