I realize this is a common issue for Xbox 360's to overheat, but ive have mine for 2 months and it got warm, but never rediculously hot. Just the other day i noticed that the plastic on the back where the fans are have warped or something and the XBOX 360 Logo on the side has a smoother part like its been melted. Also, my 360 has gotten increasingly louder lately, or so it seems. It doesnt seem like its just fans, it sounds more like a rattle. Is anyone having or has had something similar happen to them? I really didnt want to send it in to get it fixed... Thanks...

You are putting the 360 in an area that it shouldn't be so put it in an area that is clear of walls and other things that give off heat

If plastic is melting, it is a serious problem. But it seems impossible for the CPU to still function if the plastic case is melting. The CPU and GPU are the source of heat and would be destroyed before it got hot enough to melt the case. Another heat source is the power supply. Keep it away from the 360.

My Xbox 360 is on an open shelf Horizontal below my TV, as far from the power supply as possible. I did have the 360 vertical for awhile but moved it. I dont know if its overheating, or if its melting. I just know its getting louder and the back is warped by the looks of things. Thanks for the help, any other tips?

Dont Worry, but call and ask if warped plastic is still okay to play with.
