I just checked walmart, target, and bestbuy and they are all sold out xbox 360 pro and Elite. They still have Arcade, but I really do not want an arcade version. Anybody is having this problem with where they live? (Those of you who do not own xbox 360 yet)

What is going on... I hope MS is not making another stupid SKU.

In Australia most stores still stock 360's, Wii's are sold out everywhere and PS3's never get sold, reason why I did not get a PS3 is because no one I know has one.

There's no excuse for those stores running out, that is terrible inventory management. Do you happen to live in a small town area? If so then I wouldn't be so surprised. That's the way it is where I live. Stores wait till they run out of stuff before ordering more.

Yeah i work at Best Buy and we haven't had pro's or elites in awhile. Still have arcades in stock though. Last time we had elites was the week before christmas.

Same here. I live in Ottawa which is pretty big so it's not like we're a small town.

Every store only has arcades.

Too bad, I got an RROD and was going to buy an elite, but had to settle for an arcade. They missed out on 200$ :/

I live in the Los Angeles area and 2 weeks ago I went to 4 Best Buys, 3 Targets, 3 Gamestops, Walmart, and Costco and couldn't find an elite. All those stores were also sold out on their websites. I ran across a couple of arcades and halo edition but I didn't want those. I finally found one last week at newegg.com. On the other hand the Best Buy has a ton of Ps3s

i live in newzealand and i went to ever eb games and even called other cities to check for ps3 and they all sold out (i wanted to buy a ps3)

although they all seemed to have 360's so i just waited till one came stock.

im no fanboy or whatever (i have a ps3) but i was pretty suprised when there was such few ammounts of ps3 in NZ and in melb (Australia)

although i did hear that the ps3 sold 1.6 million in Christmas in Europe

Saying they're not selling becuase boxes are on shelves has already been established as stupid a year ago. Sales outside of the US would kinda point to not only are they selling but they're selling faster than the 360 did given the PS3 already controls most of europe despite the 9months or so its been out and the 2 years since the 360 arrived. As for the NZ comment, it took 3 days after the PS3s launch there to outsell the 360. Just 3 days.

That's the stupidest reason not to buy a PS3, just because nobody else you know has one....... I guess if you live in a smaller town or whatever, 360s are going to be sold out because smaller towns and cities don't get as much stock as the bigger areas. Here where I live is an exception though, where PS3s are sold out and 360s are overstocked. Oh, and you can always order online.

Cause the Xbox 360 rocks. It has the best games this generation so far and best online. And the price point is reasonable as well, where I live you can still buy them.

Now that you mention it I don't recall seeing any 360's for a while. I'm wondering if the supply chain just hasn't recovered from the holidays. I do see Sony hardware in stores, but no Nintendo stuff at all and just Arcade 360's. Best Buy near me did have a stack of Halo 3 360's.

The MS insider who spoke recently about why the 360s are breaking down stated MS cant keep up with replacment orders for broken units and are having to spend their time on that, given MS's bad position at the moment with the DoJ increasing their monitoring of MS for 2 more years and their scandel with iosta and Silverlight, they dont want to give the feds any reason to pull the 360 from the shelves, which is of course what should have been done early on to stop the rros madness.

Over in houston our Targets sell out of 360's all the time. We never have Wiis or DS's (haven't seen one in a month), but we do have about 15 PS3's in stock, they rarely sell.

wow no xbox 360s eh

i know where they are all, in alberta canada, ive finally recovered from christmas shopping and finally went to the malls this week and well, my two closest bestbuys have towers of 360s. 4x4x7high, so about 100 360s a tower and about two towers a store.

went on tues and again friday night, still two giant towers, went to the malls and ebgames stacks them up top on the highest shelfs about 30 average a store of 4 stores.

this seems like way too much overstock to be pleased with, i rather see these systems in hands of ppl who want them.

BUT no wiis ever.

Wait ... 360's selling out is shocking? Why? Its an in demand console, as is the Wii and to a lesser degree the PS3. And the holidays are over, so retailers aren't quick to restock due to the typical slow sales period that follows.

Same thing happened to my friend who lives in Ohio. They were sold out everywhere. He finally found one in a small town nearby. PS3's well those were stacked high where he was at and not selling very well.

You have a good point there, imagine if these were DVD players, Blu-Ray players, HD-DVD players or TV's! Could you imagine how they would almost certainly have to do a recall..why is it different with a game console? This puzzles me how Microsoft is allowed to get away with knowing that their consoles are extremely defectvie and it's widely known. I love Microsoft allot and love my 360 for as long as it last before i get the RROD again, but Microsoft was let off easy with selling mass of people defective units that will 95% of the time become deceased. Anyways, Walmart has some Xbox 360 PRO's for sale on their site so it's not sold-out everywhere.

its cause the ones who buy it dont complain enough, even look here, theres threads about the RRod BUT there also as many fanboys saying its only your xbox that it happens too and stop making it a big deal. it is a BIG DEAL when the company comes out and has to make a 1billion dollar announcement about their screw up. So next time we wonder why certain companies get away with it, look at everyone who buys the merchandise and down plays what they know was a mistake in the beginning. we complain about a game that went wrong and write petitions for better games and all, but oh we down play the defects and are noseblind that this merchandise is really not up to par.
