So, what's the deal with the Jasper? Everybody says that if I'm getting a 360 to make sure it's a Jasper.

1.) Is its fan quieter?
2.) Does it not overheat as much?

Any other benefits?

Thanks. =)

It's practically RROD proof!

Went ahead and fixed that for you. It has less than a 1% fail rate, though. So it's your safest bet. And yes, it is slightly quieter. Not by much.

I don't know about RROD proof, but it does have a less likely failure rate then older models, your chances are almost slim to never, although I don't want to rule out that possibility that it still could happen, but as far as 360 models are concerned Jasper is your safest bet for a good 360.

So if I get one of these things is it going to roar like a jet engine and overheat? I don't really play for more than an hour straight.

I have a jasper and I can see the difference with old models. Two ways to tell if you're buying a jasper: 1. The power adaptor is 150 watt instead of 175 2. On the small white label on the side of the package you can find the word 'ADUE' (the new chip manufacturer)

The main difference is that the Jasper has a smaller GPU chip then the Falcon. It also uses less power. It helps a lot with heat but the main issue with RROD's has never been actually fixed, aka the heat sink clamps.

Heat sink clamps? RROD? I don't actually own a Xbox so maybe you can explain those terms for me? I know what RROD stands for but what causes it?

Pretty much the main cause is that the clamps that hold the heat sink down are weak or get warped due to the high heat inside the console. That's why you see all the 3rd party fans for sale. If the heat sink isn't pressing down on the chip then it trips a sensor or whatever and you get your RROD. Another reason why there are a lot of guides out there on how to fix it. It should be a very easy fix for MS but they won't change the design for some reason.

Actually, I don't see any possible way for them to fix it without shipping out an entirely different console. The basic architecture would have to be drastically changed in order to place the clamps in a position in which they won't become warped.

Though with Jasper you have a better chance of being in a Hollywood movie than getting RROD.
