Well I dont have a newer model tv so it doesnt support 720. But my friend uses 720 and I think mine looks clearer. But thats normal, the only difference is frame rate. 720p will get you better frame rate but at a lack of graphics.

If youve got a smaller TV (around 20") you should go with 720

for now 1080i but later in the year when games like COD4 come out then 720p is better because of framerate reasons. COD4 will not fall below 60fps so 720p would be a better choice later in the year... not for now

does interlaced really drop the frame rate? I thought it just caused slight ripping/lagging of the picture, but not the framerate.

why is it that 720p looks better? I thought it was just interlacing so the image would just appear brighter on a progressive image.. I just want to know why. Does it reduce ghosting or anything?

on my tv 720p is sharper, try to pay attention the the words when you change the settings. for me, changing it to 1080i makes the words a little blurry.

It depends on your HDTV's native resolution.

in general terms, is P not better than I? When I changed my settings from 1080i to 720p, the graphics were noticably better for every single game I had played up to that point. I guess it will be up to the TV in question, but I've always been led to believe (:D) that P settings will usually look better than I settings.

*sigh* P is for progressive pixels in which your TV screen will put out the picture faster, while Interlaced goes slower to make games look smoother so you don't notice lag jumps in a game. Sadly P is better for gameplay or else with an I you kinda have to get used to the slightly slower framerate you can just feel, but not notice. TVs make the differance. I and P don't make games look better, one is just faster. 1080ip makes an image larger, not quality better. 720p is better since that is what most 360 games support. with 1080ip settings it will just randomly stretch the image because a 720p game wasn't ment for 1080ip. So it may jump around a bit if you take time to notice, it is stretching the image, not increasing graphics at all. Though the larger the image, the more you notice the details and depth of the game in HD than you would if you looked at a small TV in 720p. SO 1080ip is better if the game supports it, 720p is really all the matters and you get the same results if not better.

Yourbest bet is 720p. You can do a comparison yourself and see which on you like better. 1080i has greater resolution but 720p runs better for me.

my display is 22'' (1680 by 1050 pixels) i have it on 1080i because to me 720p doesnt look that good wit some of my games and my framerate is fast.
