Xbox 360 has a plethora of FPS games but I feel that it is missing a signature platformer. Sure they have a few arcade gems... But I think I'm looking for a Mario esque feel... Almost old school. They need to create a character or something... I don't know. Thoughts anyone?Megaflush24This is so true i wish there was a amazing platformer like littlebigplanet for the ps3 but look at the arcade there are some great ones there.

I loved games like Ape Escape, Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank, even some Crash Bandicoot. Xbox has NOTHING that stands out like those games.
I have a wii. But I think it would be smart for the 360 to develop something so people wouldn't have to switch consoles. The only good platformers are in arcade.Megaflush24I am not debating that, the thing is, evidently no game developers think there is enough money in it.

This may be true...but I also think this could be a gold mine. Sadly, due to economic struggles. Nobody has the balls to do it. everyone plays it safe... Someone needs to get innovative.
Dude read his post, then type an answer. That's how it works.Braid, Splosion man, Super Meat Boy, soon Ms Splosion Man, Shadow Complex, etc etc etc
Seriously, anyone asking for a platformer on the 360 doesn't know it's library

I did, he's wrong
There's no difference these days between a top tier arcade platformer and a retail platformer, the genre is too shallow to justify retail offerings. I mean sure, if he wants to pay 50 bucks for a platformer that's his prerogative but overall almost all of the best platformers this generation are digitally distributed.
To ask that someone wastes their time and money putting out a retail platformer?
Nah, not worth it for a genre that doesn't need it.

I don't disagree that we don't need it. The point is you said he doesn't know the 360s library. He acknowledged the platformers on arcade but was simply clamoring for a full retail release. Which, right or wrong, is apparently something he is willing to pay for.It really does. MS tried to set up some exclusive platformers but I don't think they'veseen the success they wanted from the genre so far. The best excluisve platformer so far for an xbox system has probably been Jet Set Radio Future, but I think that Sega's IP. Since then rumor has it that they passed on a chance to buy the rights to Psychonauts (another great platformer from last gen) in place of Voodoo Vince which was a bad choice in retrospect. This gen the only real platformer I can remember is Kameo and maybe the Banjo: Nuts and Bolts game. they haven't really followed up with any sequels though.
Anyway, I hope MS can create a new action/advendure platformer or at leastobtain thepublishing rightsto an existing franchise. It wouldn't hurt to start releasing some more exclusive rpg's either. They seem to have gottenaway from that genre abit too recently.
We are not talking about side scrolling platformers like Super Mario. We are talking about 3D adventure platformers. Big Difference.Braid, Splosion man, Super Meat Boy, soon Ms Splosion Man, Shadow Complex, etc etc etc

Dude I have those gamesand I know the library very well... I'm not looking for a sidescroller but a full retail game with more depth.Braid, Splosion man, Super Meat Boy, soon Ms Splosion Man, Shadow Complex, etc etc etc

Those games have depth, there's not much depth you can have in a platformer, the genre itself is shallow.
3D platformers peaked in the 90's and there's not much more you can do, sure you can have the gravity thing like Mario Galaxy or the vehicles lke Banjo but the genre is pretty much tapped right now, no one over the age of 10 wants to jump around as a comical mascot anymore in 3D.
Where the genre is going is back to 2D where controls and level design are being perfected for a whole bunch of platfromer types.
MS screwed up there best chance of getting quality platformers for 360 when Rare crapped out that god awful Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts instead of making the game everyone wanted them to, Banjo-Threeie. And now they are stuck developing shovel-ware for Kinect.spike6958
I don't know if you missed this but Banjo was well received globally and none of their Kinect games are even close to shovelware
You must want to brush up on the company since you seem to be really lost to what they've been doing recently
No haRd feelings though ... I see that we are both passionate gamers... We'll hav e to agree to disagreeMegaflush24Yea, there's no winning an argument of semantics with someone like that.
All these plus Outland just came out which has received really high reviews so far.Braid, Splosion man, Super Meat Boy, soon Ms Splosion Man, Shadow Complex, etc etc etc

@Megaflush24, I doubt you have played most of these platformers if you feel they are more shallow than retail platformers. New Super Mario Bros. can be beaten in a few hours and then all that's left is to unlock some hidden content. Retail games will have higher production values than arcade games but they don't necessarily have more depth.
I agree though that a big, non-Nintendo platformer could be really cool. However I feel you are dismissing arcade platformers just because they are arcade titles. Wii and DS have a lot of great platformers, gotta head there for the forseeable future, love it or hate it.
