I am considering getting an xbox 360 and I have a few questions. I was looking into the new 4gb slim model for 200$. How much space does a game usually take? Is 4gb enough for someone who doesnt play an insane amount of games? Also, can we connect it straight to the internet or do you have to buy a special component in order to use it with our cpu's wifi? Since its a fairly new model this one might be a bit tougher, but can these new models get rrod or is the whole rrod issue a thing of the past?

Thanks

1. A normal game usually takes from 4-8 GB.

2. 4 GB is enough but you are not going to be able to install games on your harddrive. You will not have many demos installed on the hard disk at the same time. Installing games reduces load times, noise and the chance of other technical failures (if any)

3. You do not need to buy any extra components to hook it up to an existing WIFI.

4. You can never say never, but the chance of getting RROD with the Slim model is next to nothing.

My suggestion: Save a little more money and buy a bigger harddrive. You will thank me later!

Or do what I did and get a decent size USB stick and install games on that instead. I've got a 16gb - OK it's not perfect but enough to hold a game or two in combination with the console.

The USB transfer rate is much, much slower than that of a hard drive. But if you are willing to wait then richardjerome01's method works as well.

I bought a 250gb xbox at amazon for only $170.00, brand new in the box, never used and works great. The more memory the better to play games.

What I haven't seen anybody say yet is how much data is already used up when you get your Xbox 360. I got a 250gb Halo Reach console and only got 238gb from first boot. I would imagine that the 4gb only has 2.5-3gb of space when you first get it. If you can spend the extra 100 bucks and get the 250gb. The added space is totally worth the money. A cool feature about the Xbox 360 is you can install music on you HDD and listen to it while playing, unlike the PS3. I have more music on my Xbox 360 than any 4gb console could handle and still have space to save games.

This can (possibly) be explained by the fact that disk manufacturers tend to advertise sizes based on powers of 1000, rather than 1024 So a "250GB" drive probably only really has around 232 "real" GB... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gigabyte

I have been playing 360 games on USB stick 8GB and its enough for most games since all games are around 6.8 GB install size, with exception of Forza 3 and others which takes around 9GB let me tell you the transfer rate mentioned is rather marginal and it does not makes a difference. For me 4Gb model is a waste of money since you can't install any games my advice would be to get the arcade for 149 dollars even cheaper if you hunt around and invest in a hard drive look around for some used drive they are sold for quite cheap, and get 3 years warranty and if your console runs bad you will surely get the 360 Slim since the older model production is going to be closed down

4GB won't be enough.

I play on my Original 360 with the 20 gig Hard Drive, and I only install games with bad load times and expansions.

And I play it a hell of a lot too.

The 4 GB Slim model is not enough to install games and plus theres games that can have more than that space. Get the 250 GB, in my opinion the 4 GB one is a rip-off, thats in my opinion. If I were you(If you want more room) get a 250 Model. The more space the more and better content you'll have installed on your harddrive.
