Yo! I turned on my Xbox 360 and I heard a click/locking- type of noise. Maybe it was the DVD drive or the lens specifically; I don't know, I've never heard it before. Has anyone else experienced this sound or other weird noises? Will my precious Xbox 360 be ok?

My 360 makes tons of weird noises, and some vary on a day-by-day basis. One day on startup, it'll beep, then click, then beep again. Another day, it won't.

Honestly, the 360 is a strange machine, but as long as its functioning fine - your console will be OK.

Don't let the noises bother you. I used to worry about the noises and asked myself why the DVD drive has to make that LOUD of a noise all the time. Blah Blah....it's because it has to run at full speed all of the time, even at idle because of the dashboard telling you which game is in the drive the drive now needs to spin at lower idle speeds. Whatever I like the games and love Live so I just turn the tv up louder.

I'm pretty sure I know the sound your 360 made. Mind seems to make it pretty often, usually just after I turn it on. I think of it almost like a house settling, but it's just the 360 settling. Something like that.

The only thing I can think of is it has to do with the heating and cooling of the inner components. It definitely is a clicking kind of noise.

I haven't had that experience yet, but I've heard mine turn into a 747 getting ready to take off for Denver.

Mine makes some strange clicking noises, but for the most part I ignore them and hope for the best.

Mine made grinding noises so I send it in. I have a phillips dvd drive now and they fixed the motherboard aka replaced the heatsink(?).

It's all good now.
