I'm planning to pick up Xbox 360 console (so far PS3 was my only console) and I came across something little confusing.

Before the announcement of newest console which has build in wi-fi my local Future Shop has it for standard 299$. However the Xbox 360 before the new one is selling for 249$.

I'm all for saving money, I guess my question would direct to people who have older Xbox 360. Did you upgrade to newest one? Is there a reason to? I could buy either one but obviously, saving on the purchase is considered.

I'll also add 1 year subscription.

Appreciate the help on the matter, I had been irking to purchase the console for some time now. :)

The new xbox has built in Wifi so you wont have to buy the very expensive wifi adapter like the "old" model, so i think you already save money there. Also the newer one makes almost no noise:D

Hope this helps

Yup, 360 slim has built in wifi so you're saving a bit of money there. I have the older model (there was no hype for the slim when I got mine)

I got the Halo Reach Limited Edition XBox 360 Slim last night, and it does have a couple of advantages over the old model. For one thing, it has built-in Wi-Fi. With the older models, you need a wireless adapter. The Slim also has updated hardware, is quieter, and is ready for Kinect. I traded in my old 360 towards the Slim. If you're a first-time 360 gamer and don't have an ethernet cord that can go to your room or wherever you have your system, then go for the Slim. But if ethernet isn't a problem for you, then, by all means, go for the 360 Elite. Don't get the Arcade-- I've heard the Elite is more reliable.

Also, if you get the old model, make sure it's a brand new console, fresh out of the box. This is because if you get a used or refurbished system, you run the risk of getting an early model that can give you the Red Ring of Death. The new models for both the Elite and the Slim have the new motherboard which drastically reduces incidents involving RROD.

Sounds good, I'm not sure how I feel about Kinect as I'm at the moment not interested with Move either but I might as well get the newer xbox 360 then.

It is the latest hardware and I guess, it makes sense for new owner to go with it.

Is it still recommended to install disk to the hard-drive or does the new console run pretty quiet?

Appreciate the help folks. ;)

In my view when it comes to technology, you should always go for:

First: What you can afford.

Second: If you can afford the newest or newER then go for it.

In this technology day and age, it is best to buy the newest as i see it as the wisest investment. You never know whether you would not need to sell it later, which will bring you the best bank om the buck. My 2 cents on the issue.
