So I just picked up a new 4GB slim, (finally had to get rid of my launch day 20GB), plugged the old 20GB hard drive into the expansion drive and all is well, except my play and charge kit does not charge the batteries on my controller. Are the front ports on the 360S not powered?

Any other ideas?

Mine work...maybe they stopped working when you plugged in your old HDD. Have you tried the charge and play with the HDD out?

Something must be weird. I just charged it fine using my laptop. The USB ports can't be dead though because the play and charge kit turns on but it flips to green right away. Odd.

That means your battery is messed up usually. As in, it won't recharge anymore. I had a battery pack that did that...plugged it in, 2-3 minutes later the light goes from red to green, yet when you unplug it, the controller is either only half charged, or says it's fully charged but dies again with 5 minutes...

So if I had to guess, I'd say it's probably the battery you're charging...
