xbox 360 price cut

microsoft is about to make the Xbox 360 the cheapest console on the block by slashing the European prices later today.

The entry-level Xbox 360 Arcade was spotted this morning on Amazon UK for £149.99, down £40 on its usual price of nearly £190. Also listed was the Xbox 360 Premium and Xbox 360 Elite at the new price points of £190 and £250, down from £250 and £290, respectively.

Since this morning though, Amazon's prices have reverted to normal, which points to the group cheekily jumping the gun before the official Microsoft announcement, which is expected to happen before the day is out.

If the price points are correct – and the evidence [in German] so far points that way – then the £150 Xbox Arcade [the one with no HDD] is even cheaper than the Nintendo Wii, which costs £180. So far, Microsoft estimates that the Xbox 360 has sold 18 million units.

In relation to the PS3, which retails for £285 for the 40GB version, the 120GB 360 Elite will now come in £35 cheaper.

That said, for the extra £35 you get that sexy Blu-ray drive in the PS3. More as it arrives.-Martin Lynch

that's great, now i think about buying a 360...if there weren't these technical issues.

the arcade version is 50 euro cheaper than the wii and the premium version is almost on par with the wii.

that could give the 360 some new momentum in europe. the price cut becomes effective as of march, 14th.

Since when was last place not considered selling poorly?? 360 is now dominated by Wii and PS3 not only worldwide but in america. A price drop needs to happen and fast.

i am very pleased for every1 who wants one, but ffs, i ordered mine a week ago and a price drop of 40 quid on the elite

noooooooooooooooooooooo lolz, but seriously that pisses me off, like i said im pleased for others, but i even searched to see if there were rumors of price drops, maybe im a bad searcher but i didnt find anything, i feel cheated, sniff sniff lol

Have you been living under a rock the past 6 months??? the past 6 months PS3 has steadily increased sales in US, and now past two months surpassing 360 even in US. Crushing it in Japan and Europe. And now the 360 cant even beat PS3 in the US according to NPD. I cant imagine why anyone would pay $350 + $60 for live = $410 on the PS3 you pay $399 you get internet play free forever plus a blueray player. And if you didnt notice about a month ago most companies said they will be programming there games around ps3 now and porting to 360. 360 needs to lower that price, Lost odyssey and Blue Dragon flopped,, FF13 is going to dominate them also. Price needs to be lowered.
