Xbox 360 S (slim) side gets hot?

its basically normal, every device will do this, especially if the cpu/gpu is being fully utlized, the cpu will heat excessively. This just means the pcb board is liekly right up against the plastic so it transfers heat straight to it.

Nah my fat ps3 gets pretty hot too and i never worried about it. i have a 360 s and ive noticed the same thing but dont think much of it

It's not something to be worried about, in fact it's something to be glad about . . . it means your xbox is dissipating heat excellently . . . if you feel that you're xbox is hot but the air coming out isn't . . . it means you're thermal paste is bone dry, if this happens STOP using your xbox and go buy some thermal paste specifically arctic silver 5 then open your xbox and apply the thermal paste to the gpu, there are lots of youtube videos that tell you how to do this but for the actual manner and style of application of the thermal paste, I advise you to do the dot method which you can also search in youtube . . .
