xbox 360 scratched up gears of war!!! and now i can't play!!! what should i do??

ok, so the 360 made one huge ring around the gears of war disk... can i send it in to microsoft??? the disk is unreadable... oh and another question... my gold account just expired and now i can't play online multiplayer! wtf is up with that?!? i heard you could play with silver!

First: Yes i think m$ replaces discs that have been destroyed by the xbox.

Second: No, you cant play online with silver. The whole idea with gold is that you can play online.

MS will replace the disc for $20.  The form is on their website.

Yes that may be your opinion, but the TC clearly likes GoW, why else make this thread? So I'm betting it's NOT ok for him that his game is unplayable. Instead of giving him sarcastic lip, why not try and help the poor guy out?

For TC: MS has a replacement program, in which you send them your broken disc and they send you a new one. It costs 15 euros (20 bucks), but it's a good deal if you really want your game back. Go to http://www.xbox.com/en-US/ to see what you need to do.

How did the 360 damage a disc?  I can't say I've ever heard of this.Panther023

mine did the same thing omG!!! cept mine has 4 rings around it and still works (i have no idea how if you see the scratches), just buy gears at walmart switch the discs and take it back.

anyways the reason the 360 scratches discs is because it doesnt have 4 pads around the lens that reads the discs. The kind of dvd player the 360 uses is supposed to cuz if you buy an actual dvd player by that brand it has 4 plastic pads around the lens to prevent scratches. M$ is just too cheap to spend an extra 1$ a console for them.

 If console is on and game disc is inside it and you tilt the console it will put this circular scratch on it, I thought everyone knew this.

ms will usually replace the disk. but you can only play online multi wit silver when its a free night for u xbox.com will usually tell you when there is 1.

So you  write in gaming forums and expect not to get a response? I find that rather stupid. And no one cares how you feel, unless this were a "How Do You Feel About GoW?" -thread. The TC was asking for help and the best you can come up with is that? I really don't see why people like you even bother coming to places like these...

I think what monco is saying is that why post something about the game when the point itself isn't the game, it's the problem the TC is having.  Putting an opinion in that doesn't really have to do with the subject of this particular topic only clutters things.  Having said that, I don't know that I would have responded to Recon's opinion at all, I probably would have ignored it...but I must say I did find it annoying when I read it. 

are you standing your 360 up or laying it down?  i work at gamestop and i see them all the time...

dont stand the 360 up because any slight movement will cause the reading laser to burn the rings into your disk, make sure you lay it down, but also check that ventilation is clear.  as for the replacing the disk, you can take it to a cleaning station, have them refurb it (i think its like a $1 a disk) and try it that way.  or just buy another gears, its completely worth it

Yeah, if you want to be a thief...stealing isn't the answer. Here's your answer....man up and send in your copy with $20 to xbox...and for god sakes don't move your xbox while the disc is spinning and make sure the xbox is horizontal while playing and not vertical!!

i would love to know what the % is on returned consoles is now.. I know it ain't no 3 to 5%.. Thats a bunch of crap..  Everyone I know that owns one is on they're second or third console now..Recon13
