I usually take apart my 360 every few months for cleaing. I took it apart awhile ago and never put it back together I thought I had all the screws put up but I'm missing ONE. Would this have any effect on my 360. I do know were I heard it but I think I remember someone saying if there was one missing screw MS would know with some kinda scan is that true?

You mean scan the 360 over the internet? No, you don't have to worry about that. The only way they would know is if you had to send it in for repairs and even then they may not notice. There is no program out there that scans hardware for missing parts like screws that hold the case together, let alone one that travels over the internet to perform said task. You are safe my friend, trust me, I have used a 360 that didn't even have the top part of the case on and it was hooked to the internet.

By opening the 360 for cleaning you have almost certainly broken the seal which MS uses when deciding whether to repair a 360 in warranty. Missing a screw won't matter if this is the case, you wouldn't be able to send it back for a free repair anyway.

I heard that, if the scan finds you have a screw missing, MS sends someone to your house to kill you.

You're fine. As someone said above, my case isn't even on the top since I fixed my x-clamps. And on top of that, when replacing the x-clamps on xbox's I have fixed, I never replace the torx8 screws holding the metal casing to the bottom of the clamp pins (mainly because you can't). There's no scan. The scan pertains to xbox's powered on without the dvd drive. That they can tell right away, because it is a sign the drive has been spoofed or flashed. That's worth a ban from live.
