This is a quick question to anyone who owns an xbox360 in the UK.

I know they increased the warranty to 3 years for free in the US is that right? But do we get 3 years free here aswell.

If I bought it from Game or Gamestation if it breaks down will they send it for repair or would they exchange it. If they send it for repair is there like a 3 month period at the start were they would just exchange it because it hasnt been that long.

Thanks for your help guys. Im getting one tommorow! :D

well the 3 year warranty is worldwide but its microsoft's responsibility not game or gamestation's. so if it breaks down you phone up microsoft and theyll collect and repair it free, for 3 years.

id recomend elder scrolls 4: oblivion, gears of war, crackdown, forza 2, dead rising and bioshock (released in 8 days in the uk)

So Game will ask me if i want to buy a 3 year warranty, is that for them or microsoft.

What I mean is.. do I need to buy the 3 year warranty?? If not how would microsoft know when my warranty runs out etc?

Thats for game as they would replace it if it breaks down other than the 3 red rings which is what the microsoft one covers I am told (I might be wrong about the last part).

I think Microsoft have the date manufactured on the console to work it out as people will have lost reciepts and stuff.

Games wise try the 2 for £30 and 2 for £40 deals at game and gamestation for some classics like call of duty 2, gears of war, crackdown, oblivion (not all these are in the deals I am recomending but some are), project gotham racing 3, if you like tatical shooting ghost recon advanced war fighter is good (GRAW2 apparently is empty nowadays) and some others like PREY which is £10 on play.com if you have used them (they are on the isle of gursey - spelling bad lol) and they are pretty good for games.

Bioshock and Blue Dragon are out on the 24th and if you get a dr peper/fanta/sprite with the win a wii on you get a free £5 voucher for game.co.uk (game's online store which gets you reward points too as you can use your card online too) which reduces the price to about £35 for standard edition of the game for a £0.70 bottle which you can enjoy as well (appart from the darn rain all the time were getting appart from last week :( )

Hope this helps :)

What ever happens keep your reciept, you'll need it at some point. For the first year after buying your console, it's the shops problem. There is no point sending it to MS when the retailer has to cover it for the first year anyway. If it breaks within the first year, take it back to the shop they'll give you a brand new one as well as another year cover with them. As I said if it breaks down within the first yer, don't bother with Microsoft just go straight back to the store. That's how it works in the UK.

Thanks that last bit of information is helpful.

Would Game or Gamestattion give you a new one right away or would they just send your one off and you would have to collect it from them after a couple of weeks?

When I got the rings of doom they swaped it in the shop there and then at gamestation, cant say fairer than that really :) If its over the 12 month period they would be most likely to tell you to phone microsoft and they will send a form for you to ship it to them with DHL I think.

When you buy the 360 keep the receipt. That's when your 3 year warranty starts and you might need it as proof.

The 3 year cover is free for everyone. You don't have to buy it from GAME or Gamestation.

If you're unlucky and your 360 breaks after a few days you could try taking it back to the store and they might straight swap it for a new one or they'll probably just tell you to phone microsoft.

If your 360 brakes you have to deal with microsoft yourself. Game etc don't do it for you. You phone ms and they send a box to your house. You put the 360 in the box and ms send a courier to pick it up. After it's repaired they send it back all free of charge if you've had the console for less than three years.
