If you are referring to the VGA cable that is used to connect a 360 to a VGA compatibile computer monitor or television set, no it does not. The VGA cable does not come with any of the Xbox 360 packages and needs to be purchased separately.

It is entirely possible that the retailer in question is throwing the accessory in, so you may want to consult them on that.

Yes, ANY VGA device. I have the cables and used to use them all the time. I used them on a Sony 19" LCD and then a work-screen which was a Samsung Syncmaster 19".

The only thing you need to keep in mind is the screen's native resolution, because if it is a widescreen, or if it is a weird resolution, the image might be rescaled a bit weird. But it will always work. My screen is a standard 19" 4:3 (1280x1024). The graphics look excellent on this resolution.

The "native resolution" is the actual number of pixels your screen has. If you are browsing around in 1280x1024 all the time, I'm 99% sure that is your native resolution. If it was a widescreen you'd have different proportions, and if it was bigger, you'd probably be on a higher resolution.

The easiest way to tell is to try to change your resolution. Whatever resolution is listed as the maximum is your native resolution.

If you have a 1280x1024, then it should look good.

ah i just googled it. yeah my native resolution is 1280*1024.

Wow then this vga cable is awesome. i actually don't have an xbox360 yet. i was contemplating between an xbox and ps3 and the main reason i turned to the xbox is because it has a vga cable (i have a sd tv)

lAST WEEK I tied a VGA cable connected to my dell 24in High Colour LCD monitor and the colours looked washed out. went back to component and all was good. the cable was a generic brand but the day after I asked at a game sales store and the guy there said even the genuine cables are like this on a High colour lcd screen.

Stick with component far better

When I was using the VGA cables, I was using the Microsoft brand ones. They cost a bit more, but they were worth it, because I thought the graphics were beautiful. I have never seen the graphics on a third party brand of the device, but from my experience with the Microsoft brand one, I thought the graphics looked excellent and didn't looked washed or anything.

The only problem you will need to be aware of (regardless of which brand you get) is that there are a number of games that refuse to run in 4:3 proportions with the VGA cable. For example Dead Rising... What this means is you have to change your resolution in the system settings to be 16:9 proportion instead - that is if you want to play the game full screen. The image does look a tad stretched, but I preferred to have it this way than have the screen letterboxed. Fortunately, most games don't have this problem and run perfectly fine in the normal 4:3 proportion. And this was a long time ago - I've been using component and HDMI since, so for all I know it has since been fixed in an update.

What have we learned before about people who work at game stores? They're friggen noobs. I had a MadCatz VGA cable at first and it was terrible, colours were very washed out among other problems. The Microsoft cable is just as good if not better than component. It looks really sweet on a monitor. I got a TV so I don't use it anymore, but it still looked REALLY good.

The only problem is not all games scale properly to 1280*1024. When Halo 3 first came out it wouldn't run in 720p using that resolution. They probably haven't fixed it yet, but I don't know for sure.

I have an Xbox 360 Pro and recently bought the VGA HD AV Cable. Ive gone through every possible solution and tried every thing under the sun to try and solve my problem, which would be this. Ive seen people writing about the color being "washed" out and Im not sure if Im talking about the same thing as them or not, but my image, especially when Im playing Halo 3, is blury. I can still see, but the lines are not clear cut and crisp as you would expect to see in HD. Ive done everything to try and fix this. Changing settings on the 360 and monitor itself. Ive even called up Microsoft and the lady I spoke to gave me this for an answer. . .

"Ok. . . So here's what you should so. You should try your VGA cable on another Xbox with the same monitor. Then, you should try your Xbox with the same VGA cable on another monitor. If that doesnt work, you should try your xbox, with another VGA cable on the same monitor. If that doesnt work, you should try another Xbox with a different VGA cable on a different monitor. Then if that doesnt work, try your VGA cable with a different Xbox on a different monitor. If none of those things work, it could either be your VGA cable, computer monitor or console itself."

. . . . . So basically Im back at square 1.

P.S. - Not all people who work at game stores are noobs, seeing how I work at one and am quite knowledgable at what I do

you might want to make sure it's at the correct resolution. plus some tv's have sharpness setting that you can play with.
