I wouldn't hold out for the next gen console. After all, there's little to no confirmed information about it. Considering there are some great games coming out for the 360 and ones that are already out, you should pick another one up.
I vote yes on getting one. Like others have said before me, you can get a new xbox for pretty cheap. Also it's the perfect time to get one because the library is pretty mature and there are 20+ games that are worth buying for anywhere between $15-$30, even more if you're willing to pay more.
The slim boxes are way better than the originals..Ive owned my slim since it launced not one problem..So they seam to have fixed the rrod..Plenty of games do out this year..Borderlands 2, aliens, xcom i think is coming to the console..Along with some other titles, max payne 3 just launched awesome along with sleeping dogs..Madden do out soon i no here goes the madden bashers lol..
This generation will remain stagnant until proper utilization of a larger capacity medium, such as blu-ray discs, otherwise companies will most likely try to bolster their usage of streaming media (don't mean neflix and the like, I mean actually accessing games via server instead of physical medium) with upgrades in future variation of their console or through some sort of add-on like the sega genesis did.
sorry if this isn't as coheasive as I think it is, i'm really tired right now...
All the consoles are dead, this gen is done.
If you were staying away up to now there's no sense being foolish and wasting money on a new console now.

I'm actually going to go with this. Next gen is almost a guaranteed lock for late next year, so if you don't mind waiting another year and a few months I'd say do that. It's awfully late in the gen, and I think Microsoft is going to drop support for the 360 like a rock when the next Xbox comes out.
Depends, how much do you like 360 exclusives? I assume you have multiplats on the other console, so there is not a real reason to rebuy them for 360 (the fanboys will lie about it, but you honestly can't see a difference between multiplats except if very rare cases).
You also have to factor in if you want XBL or not, if you don't want to pay for it then most 360 exclusives are not worth owning IMO. Halo and Gears are worthless without XBL really.
So it really comes down to exclusives.
I would still get one, many great games are at heavily discounted prices now. Also I still think there will be at minimum 2 more years left for the 360's life cycle. I know others mentioned getting the 4gb model, I would advise getting the 250gb model. Installing games on your hard drive makes load times faster and the 360 less noisy since the disk spins less.
I say wait. It will probably be announced very very soon. This gen has long overstayed its welcome... then again, I am primarily a PC gamer...
If you really want to play 360 exclusives like Halo 4 and multiplats like RE 6 and Call of Duty then yea go ahead and buy a 360, just know the the 360 is near the end of its life cycle and the xbox 720 or whatever it will be called will most likely be announced or shown at E3 next year (2013) and there is a good chance MS will release the new console holiday 2013. So if your buying a 360 at this point, you can still get a good year or so out of it before the 720 comes.
