So in an interview, some guy from Microsoft Game Studios (Cant remember his name) said that there would be no clone to Super Smash Bros for Xbox characters. However, what if they made something even better than a fighter? What if they made a complete sandbox third-person action game, including all their legendary characters? How sick would that be!? Each character would have their own movelist, etc. Oh and coop. Coop would be a must. The lineup would be:

Alan Wake from Alan Wake
Xbox LIVE Avatar from Avatar Editor
Banjo & Kazooie from Banjo & Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts
Blinx from Blinx: The Time Sweeper
Crom from Bloodforge
Tim from Braid
Eddie Riggs from Brutal Legend
Grayson Hunt from Bulletstorm
Agent from Crackdown
Conker from Conker: Live & Reloaded
Dr. Tan from Dance Central 3
Kasumi from Dead or Alive 4
Isaac Clarke from Dead Space
Hero of Oakvale from Fable
Marcus Fenix from Gears of War
Cooper from Grabbed by the Ghoulies
Master Chief from Halo
Ilo & Milo from ilomilo
Kameo from Kameo: Elements of Power
Jago from Killer Instinct
Jetman from Jetpac: Refuelled
Shepard from Mass Effect
Glitch from Metal Arms: Glitch in the System
Steve from Minecraft
Faith from Mirror's Edge
Arran from Nightcaster
Inphyy from Ninety Nine Nights
Ryu from Ninja Gaiden II
Munch from Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee
Joanna Dark from Perfect Dark Zero
Raz from Psychonauts
Super Meat Boy from Super Meat Boy
Master Sage from Tao Feng: Fist of the Lotus
The Gunstringer from The Gunstringer
Toejam & Earl from Toejam & Earl III: Mission to Earth
Baldur from Too Human
Ty from Ty the Tasmanian Tiger
Horstachio from Viva Pinata
Voodoo Vince from Voodoo Vince

There would be a huge open world, with like 40 worlds connected together, each full of the game's scenery, drivable vehicles, etc. Plus an awesome story mode including interaction between characters.

What is you guys' opinion on this idea?

Xbox doesn't have a strong enough 1st party for such a game to happen, and most of the characters you listed are unknown that no one recognizes.

But I wouldn't mind it if they did make one. The more the better I say.

Eh. I don't think so. I love Super Smash Bros. but I can't stand Playstation All-Stars. It just lacks so much of the appeal that Super Smash Bros. has.

Yes, if microsoft made a cross over game, it shouldn't be a fighter. It sounds like a nice idea.

A more realistic idea is if rare got their act together (I guess that's not so realistic) and in their next conker game, players can play as non-specific characters and kill eachother. Think of like spartans, grunts, locust, minecraft people, hobbes (fable), and others with big heads and small bodies, and each have their own weapons to use. I doubt rare would even come close to making this let alone another good game. But xbox should definitely have some third person action, not a fighter.

Definitely no. 1. PlayStation All-Stars wasn't nearly as fun as SSBB. Why should "Xbox All-Stars" be different? 2. The only notable first party Microsoft characters I know of are Master Chief, Blinx, and Conker (who was originally a Nintendo character). Maybe if, when Xbox III pops up, Microsoft creates a reasonable series of characters. But for now, no thanks.Zolakan

Read the thing. I said I didn't want a fighter but instead a free-roam game.

However, I see where you're coming from as far as a weak first-party character roster. Oh well

Read the thing. I said I dont want a fighter. I agree that would suck. Just read the original post. Not just the title

How would a free roam game work exactly? It doesn't make much sense, no offense.

I dont really know. There would be one big world that has different areas and each area is themed after a different Xbox game. So Like, you could roam around the streets of worlds from different Xbox games, drive vehicles, fight enemies from that video game, do side missions and stuff like that. Almost like GTA or a sandbox game like that but with lots of different characters, settings, etc. Idk, just a thought.

Imho, only fighting and racing games work for "crossover" games.Zolakan

Thats because no one has ever really tried anything too out-of-the-box

No, it's because it's an awful idea

The whole problem with doing that is that you can do it two ways

1. Make every level/stage specific to a certain character's playstyle and render the rest of the cast obsolete.

2. Make every level/stage accessible for every character and make it bland as hell.

Bad idea, does not work

All characters are not the same, they all play different, move different, etc.

If you tailor a stage for a specific character's abilities and make it fun to play as that character everyone else wont be fun to play with on that level/stage because they don't interact with it the same way.

The easiest way to explain it is this. Mario isn't fun to play with in Sonic games and Sonic isn't fun to play with in Mario games.

The reason crossovers work for racing (Mario Kart, Sonic All Stars), fighting (Marvel/Capcom, Fighter's Megamix), or sports (Smash Bros, Sonic Tennis) is because the games aren't built around the characters or their abilities, they're built around a central concept that the characters have no real impact on.

sounds cool, but they would have to do something unique with the gameplay engine, to not just not make another generic shooter

So... it's like GTA with iconic character models?...Also, how would you connect these 40 worlds together? Each game has its' own art style.
