The E74 error just came up and I know I can try and fix it, but I know I am just kidding my self. So I a have a few questions about getting a new xbox.

First I have an Elite with the harddrive and the HDMI cable. So I was wondering if I buy an Arcade model can I just attach the harddrive and is there a slot for the HDMI?

Next where is the best place to buy a new one. I am wondering either Best Buy or some other retailer, or Gamestop.

All experienced knowledge will be welcomed.

How old is your system?

You can probably get it repaired for free, which would be a much wiser decision than wasting money on a whole new xbox.

It is 2 years this summer, I know I could get it fixed probably for free.

But this might sound weird, I would rather just buy a new Arcade model for 200 bucks then wait.

Just went through the exact same problem. Had an elite with a E74 error, first thing you need to do is check with Xbox.com support center there is a strong possiblity that you xbox is under the extended warranty that microsoft offered covering all e74 errors. IF you are than all you gotta do is ship it to a repair center and they will repair it and ship it back for free. However if you are not covered and decide to buy a new one all I can tell you is that i'm pretty sure there is a HDMI slot on the arcade the only difference i know of on any consoles is that there is a variation between some of the ac power cord connection points. Hope this helps. Let me know if you need anything else

Dude, just send it off. It only takes like 2 weeks... Spend the 200 on games or something.

Mine took less than that. Printed the label at home shipped it the next day and ups tracking shows it returning tomorrow all in all it took less than a week for the whole process

This^^^^ wasting $200 when you could buy several games is just plain silly. 2 weeks without a console is not much to wait. And E74 errors are now covered by the 3 yr warranty so you will be covered

Ok, I might send it off, but lets try to focus on the original question.

The Arcade does have HDMI and if you do decide to get one, look for one witht the 150w power brick (newest model). The HDD will plug straight onto it but oyu will have to transfer all you licenses for any downloaded content you may have or you will have to be signed into live to use any of it. As for where to get it, well thats up to you really. It's gonna be the same price wherever you go if you get it new

The best way to fix the e74 error (1 rrod) is doing the ''towel trick'' mine got the e74 and i did the towel trick i put a cooling fan behind and im playing 4 months since my xbox got the e74.You can take 2 towels and wrap it up with the system on for 30 to 40 minutes make shure it doesnt get air.then at 30 to 40 minutes you unwrap it and u shuld have 2 or 3 rrod then turn it off and turn it back on.Then you should have a working xbox 360 if it doesnt work ur xbox isfckd up and you will have to spen alomst $200 dollars sending iit to the bulsht of microsoft. hope that helped thx :) :)
