I'm guessing that you run your console vertically?

A well cared-for system that sits horizontally is one that never scratches discs.

Standing your console vertically also increases your chance of RROD. It blocks the biggest vent in the entire system which is on the bottom.

P.S I mis-read the title at first. Was funny.

My old xbox randomly scratched Gears of war, Rainbow Six: Vegas, Oblivion, and Call of Duty 2 for no reason. It sat horizontaly on flat wood. I replaced it over the summer and I have had no problems so far. If you are treating your consle right it may need to be replaced.

Not true. I took really good care of my old pro system and it was always horizontal and it started to scratch disks. Got rid of it though and replaced with an arcade, kept my old hard drive too.
