How the hell would we know if its going to die? I've got 4 XBox 360s, all working, they are all used pretty heavily for gaming and our primary source of TV. We use Media center and stream hours and hours of HDTV through the 360. My main Xbox gets up to 10 straight hours of use a day between my wife and I. We play on it and watch TV. None of my 360s are having trouble, many of them are older than yours by years. Stop worrying about it. Dont add those stupid fans, the Xbox was designed to handle the heat it produces. Why do people stack fans on top of fans? I never got that.
Edit: How hot is your room? I'd just say keep your 360 in a very open space, maybe put a fan nearby to blow the heat it produces away from the 360. If your house isnt above 78 degrees you're probably fine. I keep mine at 72-73 even in the south Texas heat. I love new houses.
thank for letting me know, i was hering about the hardware problems, im glad someone replied. thanks.ILIKECROWSSorry I just realized I came off pretty rude lol. I think you'll be fine, I have one of the Halo 3 360's from 2007. That thing sounds like a jet flying in my game room upstairs. I can hear it in the stairway, if my wife is talking to me anywhere but in that room I cant hear her over it lol. You might have a 3 year warranty for RROD anyway, depending on when you bought it. I'd call MS support and check on that. Just do your best to keep your 360 away from other hot electronics, dont stack it with others. I see so many people putting their 360 on top of a cable box. Those things get so hot.
Well, I put one of those "stupid fans" on mine, mainly just as a insurance vice. I don't think it is anything wrong with taking as many precautions as possible, and the fan that I use is a intercooler which pulls the hot air out of the console, not to mention the fact that I have mine in a open area,. I've had mine and my son's fall victim to the RROD, but that was over 3 years ago, which the HDMI equipped newer replacement that I got has been working fine, and his is also. I think they put a additional heat sink in his.I think the newer versions, or the ones that at least have the HDMI port are much less vulnerable to overheating. My kids play there 360's for about 6-7 hours a day, on a consistent basis, and 0 problems. So I think his elite will be fine. It's those 05-06 models that you might have to worry about. How the hell would we know if its going to die?
