Hey all. First post on here so I hope its in the right spot. Anyways on to my story. I purchased my X360 about a month ago. I bought the arcade pack because I got a SMOKIN deal on a new 120gb hard drive and didnt feel like spending the extra money. Anyways. All was going well until yesterday. I got off of work and decided that I wanted to get a new game because playing Call of Duty 4 by myself was getting kinda boring (even tho I'm not really that good at that game). So I decided to go pick up Left 4 Dead. While playing it I made it to the beginning of the 3rd level and my xbox just froze on the screen, no lights on the ring, no response from the controller, it just stopped working. So I just thought hey, maybe something just froze, no big deal. So I loaded it up again, started playing again, this time in online mode and the game froze on me again! I tried playing for another hour or so and had the same problem with it freezing 2 more times. Thinking this was a problem with the game, I returned it and picked up Fable 2 instead (since from what I played on L4D wasnt really interesting to me). I put Fable 2 in and started playing. I didnt even make it past the opening sequence before the game froze..I restarted again, made it about the same distance and it froze again. So I looked online, read some stuff about clearing the cache on the hard drive. Did that, went back in, started the game again and poof, again with the freeze, 2 more times. Deciding to take some initiation in the whole troubleshooting I decided to install the game to the hard drive, I havent had a problem with it yet. I've narrowed the problem down to the DVD-drive. But, since its not throwing out any error codes is there anything I can really do about it to get it fixed before I have to send the unit in? Any help/experiences at all would be awesome! Thanks!
Nope, I've read everything about this topic, I've never stood it vertical. I even set it on top of bottlecaps so its at least 3/4" off the surface of anything and its completely out in the open, Its not even getting the chance to get warm let alone to overheat.
