xbox gold membership help please

ok i had xbox gold membership and because my internet was down i didnt realise it was running out,i wanted to downgrade to silver membership but foud out they had automatically renewed gold membership,they couldnt take any money so they suspended my account and say i owe them cash,now can i just get a 3 month subscription or do i have to get the full year??its only been a month or so since it ran out,this suks,i cant access my main account

This happened to me before I started getting the yearly subscription. I wouldn't worry about "owing" them anything as long as you have turned off automatic renewal. The 3-month subscription is good but if you like gaming online the yearly is a better deal by a few bucks. As far as them suspending your account I have no idea, but by renewing you should be able to get back on I would think.
