I'm planning on getting an HDTV soon but I'm waiting to get an Xbox 360 Elite so my old Xbox will have to do me for another while yet. Anyway, I was just wondering how do you get a 720p image from the console? I know you have to buy a component cable, but how do you get the games to run in HD? Is it dependant on the individual title, or does the console upscale automaticly when you use the component cable?

Cheers

First, dont listen to this guy above^.. Second, No you wont have to buy a cable its included in both the elite and premium. you only have to setup the xbox to 720p once then it will always display all games in that resulution. You can get HD with either component cable(included in both premium and elite), vga(not included) or HDMI (thats included in the elite). Then its really depends on the tv witch one of these you should use. If your tv have HDMI you should use that but in other cases use the component cuz the vga sucks..

I think he means how to get HD on the old Xbox, since I recall a few games did in fact support 720p. Not sure though, and don't know how to do it...

I bought an aftermarket cable that allowed me to play my xbox on my PC at higher resolutions would work on a tv with a VGA input.  The component was shipped directly from Taiwan if I remember correctly, so there are solutions out there.

I believe Microsoft had a HD cable available for HD TVs but it has been a while so cant remember.
