I've had my x360 for about a year but just set up xbox live. My first day playing gears of war online and the competition was pretty tough. So i just wanted to know if you guys can give any advice for gamers who just start xbox live.

You'll probably find that your skills will increase dramatically over a short period of time. Since one day on live gives you more experience then any LAN party with typical gamers.

If there is a mic spammer just ignore them, don't respond at all to anything they say. As for the difficulty, as the other guy said you'll get much better quickly.

Karriston, I think I am sensing a little bit, just a hint of anger with online mic users but it is just a guess.........

........ and I definitely understand where you are coming from. BTW I read your blog on "MS announces requirements for ranked matches" and I must say it is very well done and hilarious. Point taken.

I was actually angry at people who just quote someone else and add nothing to the topic :) And thanks for the compliment, I still don't understand why my ranked match thread was locked >: (

Karriston what are you doin? It took me ages too scroll down :( and for the topic creator. Its better when you play with friend because you know who you're talking to and its more fun. Strangers wont listen when you tell them to stop glitching.

I'm assuming it was because of stereotyping age groups  but who knows. I darn near fell out of my chair at work laughing.

Oh, and to stay partially on topic here, some xbox live beginners advice: Don't sing, scream, dance, squeak, squeal, moan, complain (especially when being owned - it will happen!), talk back to parents, hit your brother(s)/sister(s), cuss uncontrollably, unleash "Gale Force" winds from your backside into the mic and/or talk to strangers - mostly when playing GOW - and your online play should be just fine.

Seriously, don't sing. All the above is just imo. Have fun!!! :D
