Xbox Live Delay

I play a lot of COD 4 and GOW 2, and whenever I shoot, it takes about half a second for my shots to hit. Now half a second might not sound like much, but when you're face to face with someone and you shoot at the same time, you're always going to lose. I have two computers using the same cable modem, but it doesn't make a difference whether someone is using the other computer at the same time or not. When I play online games on my computer, like counter-strike 1.6, there is no delay at all.

but it's ALL the time. unless everyone else has a delay as well now. i've played at my buddy's house and his is fine almost all the time. it's never as bad as mine. are there ports that i need to open up?

Go to www.speedtest.net (don't use a server close to you) and post your results. I'm guessing your ISP sucks.

Are your ports forwarded on your router for Xbox Live?

is it just the shooting or is it movements and jumping too that gets delayed? If that's the case, then it could be your tv. (response time)

well its def not normal to always have a 1/2 sec delay even in gears and def not in cod4 maybe its your internet. either the speed of it or some settings.

hmm i cant really remember what good speeds are right now but i thought you needed at least 1mp or 1.5mp for a good online exp but maybe im wrong.

Go to portforward.com and select your router and Xbox Live. You will then have nice destructions on how to forward ports.

and for all those people saying its his connection, you are wrong, he could have the fastest connection in the world but if it has to travel 1700 miles then you are going to get some lag. A faster connection might improve it a little, but if the host is overseas, no matter who you are, you will lag
