I've been using xbox live to play games online for nearly a year now and it's been fine, but for a few weeks now everything seems to have come to a standstill.

Marketplace takes ages to load up any info, it takes a while to sign in, but the worst problem is trying to play games online. It takes AGES to find a game on halo 3 (4+ minutes) and when I eventually do get in, it's a laggy unplayable mess. For me, Halo 3 used to have no lag and took no time to get into a game. Gears of War stays on the loading screen for ages and Bomberman Live just says connection timed out.

I live in Scotland and I'm on a 1MB Virgin Media adsl connection and on all the tests my NAT is open. I'm connecting through a router (****** F5D7633-4) and have forwarded the ports 3074 TCP and UDP and 88 UDP but when doing this I wasn't sure if the server IP address was the router address on the 360 address.

Can anybody help me?? I really need this sorted cos I can't bear it and if it stays like this for long I'm gonna sell my 360 and build a gaming pc.

Cheers

Maybe your internet provider is having issues with the servers over there.

I have not had any problems at all. I would assume that it is your local IP. Don't give up on your 360, give it some time and your issue will be resolved.

The connection has gotten slower recently, I've noticed it here in New Zealand, am sure its worse considering New Zealands internet has been absolute rubbish for years.

Its NOT your ISP.

It is most likely overloaded services concerning the 360 which is affecting gameplay for all live users.

@ hockeyfan37

To host games on XBox Live, you MUST have an open NAT. Moderate and Strict NATs do not allow for hosting on the 360 system.

If your friends don't have an open NAT they cannot host, it has nothing to do with your connection...

Alternately if your conection is up for hosting, ensure you have the correct ports opened and you should be good to go.
