They have been doing some upgrades over the past week, for what I am assuming is the upcomming spring dashboard update.
i heard live was gonna be down for 8 hours that may be y if it has started, If not dont worry its nothing to do wid ur connectionUKLTLEMON
that's not until tomorrow and i played some COD4 online a little while ago. working fine
this same thing has happened to me before and it was the xbox live server that was down. Do not worry, with in a couple of hours or tomorow it should be back up in running and you will be able to play xbox live again.
The answer is obvious, what kind of router did you purchase? The reason I ask is because on the Xbox website there is a list of xbox LIVE compatible routers. If your router isn't one of those you will have NAT or other connections issues including not being able to connect at all...Hope that helps!APOLLOCJD
If it was his router than something other than live would have failed.

No it wouldn't as the connection is still there, it is just that the UPNP settings for the 360 server are weird and routers need to be configured properly to work with xbox live servers...
If you test it and it says that xbox live failed that means there servers are having problems. It happens sometimes because of all the people that are on. Just try after a little while and if it does not work wait some more. You will get on eventually.LRP85
Also if there are issues with the servers www.xbox.com/support will display the conditions of XBL at all times and they currently say up and running so this is not the case.
You should probably open some ports specifically for your 360. That might help.
If you haven't been able to connect for a week, then it certainly isn't a problem on Microsoft's end.
