i think its not a pain to pay for it its like 4 bucks a month and thats like nothing, u can get one month free after u get the rrod..... but that is just making up for ur lost time when its being repaired
well its like a free mmog..when its free you wont see any updates support or anything else..but if you have to pay you get updates.patches and more... i hope you understand what i mean.
For less than $50 a year...I'll pay for it as long as it continues to evolve. I think the MS guys have created a true "community" because of all of the features such as chat and information tracking. Although...it would be kinda cool to be able to watch what your friends are playing, kinda like you're sitting next to them.

It really depends. If you just want to play a game online every once in a while it's great. It's always worked fine for me.
If you want all the bells and whistles then you're going to have to pay for XBL.
I, personally, couldn't care less about all the junk XBL was offering, so for me, paying would have been a bad decision. Especially, when there's an equally viable option for free.

never gonna happen. im not mad about that though, now if the only method to pay was by CC then i'd be pissed, so far im just paying with pre-paid cards.
WRONG!!! Well....at least not anymore. The PSN still has a way to go before it catches up with Live, but with the constant updates it's not that far off.
You'd never know they could make Xbox Live a bit cheaper. When Xbox Live first came out it use to cost 80$ a year now it cost 60$ a year. I hope they make it 30$ a year :D .....i would be paying 2.50 $ a month.
I think that playing online should be available to Gold and Silver accounts, but you should have to pay for use of the store. ElPadilla

I guess it's easy to come to that conclusion if you are going by what others say or you haven't used the service yourself. I used to pay for live(I just have silver now) becuase as the old saying go's...you get what you pay for. But now the PSN is past it's infancy stage and is coming up to par with XBL, so it doesn't make any sense for me to pay for one network service (THE QUALITY GAP HAS SHORTENED) when I can get the same quality on another service for free.
The only thing I will be losing out on is the 2 games I used to play on live(Geow and Halo). Which really won't be to bad....I'll pay when I play(which is rare)

When PSN catches up to it probably. I don't really see whats so horrible about psn though the main part of xbl gold is playing online not the other stuff.

I don't mind paying for the xbox live service.....the only thing that made me mad with xbox is that you have to buy some ms points too if you plan to download maps and extras for your games which is really and money grabber...

Seriously now quit complaining about live being expensive. 50$/year is awful cheap if you ask me. I wonder how you would react when you find out people pay thousands for car insurance every year or 500$+/year just to go to the gym. When I think about all that, Live seems to be very cheap. I forget, at times, that I even paid for live.
Why would they make it free?? It messes up everything they have done up to this point... people will start making like 100 gamertags for themeselves and theyr network will be crap just like the PSN... Plus microsoft makes so much more the sony with the fact taht people have to pay for live... Its because its only like 17 cents a day or somthing like that and the games on xbox live are 10x better then psn
